Petey101
Hey guys, First of all I would like to say hello to everyone in the community. I just signed up having purchased an r33 skyline this week. I must say that I have read all your forums to death and feel I already know most of you quite well. Just thought I'd get my face out there a bit with you blokes cause I'm sure I'll be seeing you all around the block. My first mission starts tomorrow when I pick up my new R33 from Palm Beach in Queensland. I will be flying up there in the morning and driving solidly back down. Needless to say I'l be making videos and taking photos along the way with my very sexy and cool housemate. I may join you on this dinner, but most importantly I look very much so forward to talking to you in the near future, dicussing times, good and bad. I assume I'd know some of you from out and about as well. Been on a few ACC cruises and grew up in the hills, spending most my time on the roads. You seem like a great bunch and the amount I have learnt already from you all is astounding. Cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/333669-intro/ Share on other sites

Petey101
Welcome Peter, always good to get some new faces around here. Actually use to have a 4 door R33 myself RB25DET FTW!!! Unforfunately it might have to go through regency... Which of course means a ton of steel wool and some detective work with the turbo timer! Needing some work done to the front on the new bad boy as well... The front wheel is about an inch or 2 off where it should be. Sounds like a new shock. They wont wheel balance till its fixed... which of course means a bumpy ride from Queensland Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/333669-intro/#findComment-5408939 Share on other sites

Nightcrawler
Welcome to the forums Pete. We do however have a 'into' thread that should have been used and not a new thread created. It is here (click). Then a link to that thread in the wasteland of the dinner thread would have been sufficient. In my opinion I definitely wouldn't be driving a car from Qld to SA if there is any issue whatsoever with the wheel/shock/whatever. Especially if the wheel needs a balance of the car needs an alignment. At 100km+ problems get amplified many times and we would hate for you to leave the Skyline community so quickly on your way home. Just something to think about. Thanks for your consideration mate, But I'm in a situation now where I have to get it back. Car has been purchased, plus limited cash and time has not allowed me a way to fix it. If you saw how much trouble my maxima is in at the moment (my current daily), then you would see the urgency for this skyline. The skyline is still very drivable, and Il be going very easy on the roads. I really appreciate the thought though, my family and such have said similar, but there is just no time. I need it back this weekend for work. I will be doing the shock on the monday night I imagine, followed by an alignment on the Tuesday morning. Will let you know how all goes anyway Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/333669-intro/#findComment-5408974 Share on other sites
typevu
Is it definitely just the shock absorber? or could be worse if there is bent parts down there from a previous accident, might end up costing you a whole heap more... Petey101
Hmmm... the owner happens to be my brother in law. He has promised to pay the dif if its anything over $300. HOWEVER! That said. He failed to mention the car was unrego'd until after I purchased it, and made pay the rego ($470 in Queensland for the minimum). Bit lame ey? Bit lame ey? hrm how long is the minimum amount of registration in QLD? for 3 months here its around $210 or something... might have been worth just getting a 3 day pass and then rego in SA - unless its a 6 month + rego -D Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/333669-intro/#findComment-5409034 Share on other sites
Madaz
was it transferred into your name there that would save heaps of regency hassles Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/333669-intro/#findComment-5409039 Share on other sites

Petey101
I have transfered into my name there. Queensland only do 6 months. Cant do 3... Bummer, but I'll just refund it anyway so thats ok. Question is, because the car is over 15 years old will I need to go through regency? Or just get the VIN checked. Turbo timer and such on it you see, dont want to get a defect. Madaz
then you only need to fill in a change of address form i would personally keep it registered doesn't matter where a car is registered its legal to drive anywhere in australia Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/333669-intro/#findComment-5409054 Share on other sites
dark.sky
Welcome Peter! Should just need an ID check, but I would conceal or remove the turbo timer. Oh, and Andrew, hardly anyone reads the intro section! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/333669-intro/#findComment-5409056 Share on other sites
