Thought I'd look up some PS4 info when I came across this;

http://playstation4.net/playstation-3-finally-cracked-704

In summary,

In quite possibly the longest time it took hackers to crack anything, four years after its launch, the PlayStation 3 has finally been cracked. Best (if you’re into that sort of thing) or worst (if you’re Sony) of all, is that the crack is applied via a simple plug and play USB stick, complete with a GUI installer that doesn’t void warranties, is compatible with any region and model of the PS3 and claims to never brick the console. Other features include backing up games to an internal or external hard drive, which allows them to load faster, and the ability to install homebrew applications.

Oddly enough, the creators of the jailbreak are selling it for a price too exorbitant for something designed for piracy at $130.

Just don't play On-line with the USB Stick plugged in as Sony will ass f**king rape you then

True that. My idiot mate had played Resident Evil 5 on his 360 whilst online before the game was officially released. Ass raped nicely... well, just banned really lol

Considering a chip in a XBOX can cost you what. $80-$120 depending on what you want

Pricing seems reasonable. End of the day you are paying for a solution.

Just because someone isnt doing any actual physical mods means little - sounds like a solution that isn't going to get you banned so it attracts that price.

After reading it, I'm still not entirely sure how this works? The geek-speak doesn't go down too well in my mind I think! How are pirated games then used with the use of this USB type thing?

(Cracking the PS3 is to enable use of pirated games right?)

So the pirated games will come on USB's? I remember when they first cracked the 360 they were doing something like this.. The people I used to buy pirated games off in Asia told me the 'pirates' didn't see how they could pirate games as they'd need to be on blu-ray discs and the prices wouldn't be all that much cheaper than originals?

This was years ago though when blu-ray was first appearing, guessing they've gotten a fair bit cheaper now? Or would there be a way around having to use blu-ray?

Couldn't sony make an update to stop it from working?

That's the problem. This mod is fundamentally the same as all the other mods; Sony will eventually bring out new firmware which will stop this one from working. Therefore introducing new hacks and so on.

The vicious cycle begins...

Couldn't sony make an update to stop it from working?

They already have, yesterday I had to update my PS3 and with some further reading on the internet found out the update only existed to block the use of this crack.

it rips the game to the hard drive or external hard drive so you dont need the disc, and if you look around on torrent sites ps3 games are popping up everywhere on demonoid and funfile, and theres a seller on ebay selling the teensy boards with usb cable for about $100 delivered as i have ordered one a few hours ago :-) there really easy to program/flash, but yes the only drawback is when sony does the firmware update you have to wait for new firmware for the teensy board.

And from a fair bit of searching when able to play online there has been no problems yet, but im sure sony will find a way to detect non original games soon enough.

It was also recommended not to update to newer sony firmware yet as there is loads of problems with it, but if playing online you have to which sucks.

so your saying you can play riped games online or not because whats the point in haveing a downloaded game if you cant play online ?? most games now are fmade for online play

Yes you can play online so far with ripped games, it's just when Sony releases their update you need to wait for the update for the USB board, otherwise you just have to play them not online...

I've got 80 games all bought when brand new, I think I deserve a lil something back. If you can get it for free why not, if you truly appreciate the game I would buy it. So yeah cheap I don't think so chief...

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
