so ive recently purchaced a gt3076r and now looking at the dist between the manifold and the strut tower it looks like it might not fit down there..

has anyone done this/will i need to get a new topmount manifold?

Above is correct. I got a 3076 with a 10pm spacer on stock manifold. Fits on my r33. Don't think the engine bay is smaller in the r32 but I could he wrong. I know I can fit a 3540 on my stock manifold so I think you should be fine

adriano.. rotate housings? is that just a unbolt slide it round rebolt? does it affect the flow? can anyone else confirm this? :)

rotate the exhaust housing so that the oil feed sits at the top when the turbo is bolted to the manifold then rotate the comp housing to suit your cooler piping

haha alrighty thanks guys thats a load off my mind so does anyone know of a trader on here that sells the 10mm T3 spacers and at what cost?

another q.. anyone know about oil and water lines for the 3076 wil they be the same as my Apexi 400hp thats on there atm?

mtq can get a spacer for you.

i did the exact same thing with my gt2876 .86 on my rb25. stock manifold. needed 2 spacers with extended hightensile studs though. mtq can supply all gaskets, lines and flangeplates you might need and for a very good price to.

Also have the same turbo, but on a 33.

+1 for Mtq having tons of stuff that you will need.

Also, The lines may be different to the ones on your apexi:

1. your apexi turbo is a 400hp turbo, this is a 550-600hp turbo and probably bigger and you may need longer/shorter lines.

2. We dont know what your apexi and your 3076r turbos cores are, meaning the type of bearing used in them. If 1 is a ball bearing and one is a journal bearing, the ball bearing requires significantly less oil whereas the journal bearing needs lots of oil - this is important for you to know.

so it probably just easier to get some new lines and fittings, they are not that expensive, I bought mine at a place called pirtek.

gl with it.

Oh wow thats spooky i also has an Apexi 400hp turbo on mine before upgrading! I needed new lines

should these lines suffice? it says single ball bearing on there tho im not 100% but i think its a dual BB (at work atm cnt go look at it)

also once ive got it bolted on with correct lines n spacers etc.. is it safe to drive it or will i need a retune? and for a tune is it going to be costly seeming as its just being retuned to the turbo or is a tune just a full tune? :D

I would ring MTQ and order the lines and spacer all at once it wont be that expensive, I think it cost me about $200 and it all worked perfectly. You could probably drive it to a tune off boost but i wouldnt go further than that, and as for the retune mine was a little cheaper becasue they didnt have to do a lot to the lower rpm sections of the tune so it was a little cheaper than normal

    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
    • Yes then it will turn on but I want the car features to work
    • My thought is if you were just moving it forward and the upstream geometry remained the same, then no difference at all. But because the current one has the filter direct into the AFM inlet, you effectively have the best chance of a completely symmetric air flow profile upstream, and in, the AFM, whilst the aftermarket inlet thingo has a (small, to be sure) bend between the filter and the AFM. That would bias the flow to the outside of the bend (downstream of the bend) which might well reduce the size of the signal seen by the AFM, for the same total flow rate. Having said that: If you're proposing to make your inlet look like a hybrid of your existing one and the aftermarket one, such that there is no bend where the filter is clamped on... then I say it will be just fine. If there is going to be such a bend, then, if you can align the insertion of the AFM blade such that it is at right angles to the plane of the bend, then there is a better than even chance that the centreline velocity where the blade is will remain more or less the same, and the velocity will just be a little faster to the outside of that, and just a little slower to the inside. **This is not professional investment advice and you should consult a suitably qualified ouija board, tea leaves or the intestines of a goat for more accurate prognostication.
    • Hi Tao, Thanks for your reply.  It's been a while and I managed to get the valve stem seals replaced with the head on the car.  Unfortunately this didn't solve my issue, the car still smokes a lot after idling (to be honest during idle you can see a bit of blue smoke from the exhaust), same after deceleration. I will try disconnecting the valve cover breathers, do I leave the PCV valve in? By engine oil drain pipe, do you mean the turbo oil drain?
    • What about if you just give it direct 12v and earth?
