Nrma Qld - Beating Any Other Quote By 10% Just Now!

Recommended Posts

Gday,

Just bought my first Skyline - R33 GTSt.

Been getting insurance and NRMA QLD have a campaign where they beat ANY other quote by 10%.

Just saved myself 10% off the cheapest I could find - Just Car.

Excess is a little higher but they did agreed value and matched up all else, bargain.

Just though i'd share.

I'd be double and triple checking the fineprint there chief... Nobody Rapes More Australians aren't exactly known for their cuddly nature...

Yeah, good point. I'll check the docs, they have a 21 day cool off anyway eh. Seems a good deal tho but then again if it seems to good...

if something happens are they going to turn their back and be all

"oh i didnt realise you had aftermarket _____ _______ ______ _______, your insurance is void"

exactly!

Or "Skylines are imported now?!"

They're completely useless at anything apart from taking money from people.

This is a great example of why you really need to check that fine print.

My excess was only $400 with justcar $600 with NRMA, would still prefer the difference in my pocket if I don't claim.

I listed the mods it has (exhaust, rims) and it got added into the agreed value - same as justcar. I'll call and dbl check everything tomorrow now though.

I've been with them for various cars but all non-imported/ std cars, are they really that much of a shocker to deal with that nobody on here insures with them?

wan't there something on the TV this year about their customers being ripped off by shonky repair jobs.. And a whole lot of customers confronted a PR chick about it and she had to stand there and cop it..

Just Car & Shannons are designed for Enthusiasts & Imports.. Sure they charge a premium but they aren't going to turn around and leave you high and dry in most cases (unless there was something seriously wrong) as bad mouthing from the customers would see the business sent elsewhere.. So I would rather pay the higher price and know that if I have an accident then I will have little worry about getting it fixed, rather than paying less then having an accident and then a battle ensues regarding the payout/repairs..

I think once NRMA are made aware that your Skyline is an import, they will back out of the deal. Or they will keep your money and say that you didn't disclose the true nature of your vehicle and they do not have to refund your premium...

Just confirmed - they know it's an import, all mods covered as long as they are within rego compliance. I'd say it's a v different story with more highly modded vehicles but for mine (as it is now) it's cheaper and does the job.

I've been with them before and they paid out when my car got keyed years ago no probs, choice of repairer... unless QLD version is run totally differently then it should be right.

I'll still review other insurers in a few months as things change and it might get cheaper, or if I get more questionable mods then yeah.

They have done numerous things over time that come back and bite them... all their customers then come ringing on my phone to annoy me..

Fight for everything you can get for refunds.... they can't keep it if it's something that they shouldn't have covered in the 1st place, there's always a way to get a refund if it's legit... unless we're just nicer at Allianz...

Hi btw way... I'm back ;-)

Incorrect. NRMA do insure grey imports but at almost triple the price of any other insurer.

Can't agree on that one.

I did insured mu Till tray with them , only i couldn't get HOOK insurance as I am not registered for GST , so I went to AMP.

I was with NRMA with my first turbo car a vl turbo and when the worst happened. I crashed the nrma inspector went and looked at the car and said because i had a frontmount

intercooler they wouldnt pay to the repairer so after weekes of waiting i went to see how my car was going and nothing had happened. Then the repairer informed me of the hold

up i rung NRMA to find them trying to back out of repairing it even when i had the paperwork at home with intercooler listed in the mods. In the end they fixed it but took more

then 2 months to get repaired. SO In the end they might be cheaper but you will get f**ked round by them. But Just Cars was great after a tool ran into the back of my 34 and

wouldnt answer his phone or call me back. They gave the green ligh to the repairer and even with a month wait for parts was fixed faster.

I was with NRMA when I brought my R-33 GTS-t I had it 8 months till some dirty bastard in an XF wagon rear ended me at a set of lights, I paid $7500 for my 33 and NRMA put $10,000 in my hand 3 days after the crash ( bent passenger chassis rail ) as that was current market value and I had it modded with the usual bits of kit Front mount, exhaust, etc

NRMA are not too bad but make sure your getting the best coverage you can for your ride. I am with Just Car for my R-32 as NRMA wanted to cover it for 5k instead of the 10.8k JC will cover it for.

    • Apologies for the long post, but needed somewhere to lay out the entire timeline of events and actions taken:   I've got an 89 GTR with a R34 RB in it. It's been running great all year, driven probably 500KM in the last month. It's not my daily driver, just a weekend fun car.    Build info: R34 RB26 - HKS 2.7 stroker kit, HKS adjustable cam gears, HKS turbo upgrades, Trust intercooler, R34 factory DENSO 440cc injectors, JUN chipped/tuned R32 ECU. All of this work was performed in Japan back in 2019.    Thursday 10/2/25 - It's a nice day and decided I'll drive it to work, I start it up in the garage and I notice it took a few extra cranks and sounded a bit funny. I figure maybe it was just because it was a pretty chilly morning. I pull it out into the driveway to warm up a bit before leaving. As I leave the driveway, it feels very off and sounds like a misfire. I pull it back in the garage to deal with after work and take the daily to work. I was able to diagnose it as a cylinder 5 misfire with the old spark plug test (unplugging each plug until a sound change with the engine running). I take off the whole ignition system, ignitor, plugs, spark. *Important note, it is still on the R32 ignition system with the separate ignitor system. I test each system with a multi-meter and nothing presents as a smoking gun. I put it all back together and it starts up no issue. I go ahead and order the PRP R35 ignition conversion kit. It should arrive today (10/13/25)   Friday 10/3/25 - Another nice day, car starts up great and drives great all day. Very pleased that everything seems to be OK   Sunday 10/5/25 - Decided I'll take it to play some golf, load up and drive to the course about 25 minutes away. Drives wonderful the whole way there, I pull in the parking lot and the engine completely comes to a stop. I do not recall if it sputtered at all, but just remember all of the sudden the engine was off. I roll it into a parking spot, try to crank it back on and nothing.  It'll crank and crank and not even try to start. End up getting it towed back to my house and push it up into the garage.    Items I have checked: Fuel in the tank Fuel Pump relay Fuel pump fuse  Spark Plugs & gap Coil packs Ignitor    I know the cylinders are getting fuel as the plugs smell like fuel after a start attempt. I tried spraying starter fluid into the manifold and cranking and not even a sputter.    I decided to do the live CAS test (removing the the CAS, ignition on and spinning the CAS stalk to see if the injectors pulse and spark is active). All of the injectors were pulsing and I have spark at the plug. The half-moon end of the CAS did seem very loose, I'm not sure how much play is supposed to be there, but it was more than I expected. There was no in/out play of the shaft, just the tip end that is pinned on had quite a bit of play.    CAS Play video   When I put the CAS back in, I stupidly did not re-time the engine. I know I need to do that tonight, however, I do not think it will start given it seemingly was not the issue. My plan is to do the PRP R35 coil kit and retime the engine at the same time.    I plan on ordering the Haltech Nexus Plug-in ECU once they are available again, but ideally would like to get this sorted before firing the parts cannon at it and potentially adding more variables.    Anything glaring that I am missing here, I'm a bit at a loss?
    • Get it on a dyno. Get something logging Consult. Run it up and find out what is causing it.
    • Looking for a plenum for rb25 de+t neo  Not looking to push much power maybe 300kw at the wheels, is there much difference in flow for Freddy “Greddy style” compared to original Greddy or options like Proflow or Otaku garage?    I won’t be porting the de Neo head for now as I think it’ll be fine 280-300rwkw but appreciate the help and any experiences anyone has between them and any advice. Thanks  Looking at this plenum for now below
