Was at the "Midwest Show & Shine" last week with the V all clean and shiney looking like a million bucks.

I had it in the category "Best Asian Import" and i was BEATEN by a 350Z (first) and a AURION!!!! (second)

When in Hell did these cars become Asian imports?

and yes they are made OS but so is every car in Oz save some fords and some holdens.

This category was for cars with import badges.

Not happy

Yeah the dyno broke down. It was giving bad readings so they stopped. Mine was the last car on the dyno and pulled 220rwkw.

So i didn't get to claim another win.

I might have to get a dyno tune down in Perth and go in a comp in Perth.

I makes me sick that some guy/girl thinks they can enter "best Asian import" with their Aurion and even sicker that the clown judges (that we payed for from Perth) didn't even know what an import is!!! :):D

220rwkw is pretty good. What mods have you got Paul?

i think the dyno was giving incorrect readings so i doubt 220rws. its possible but ALOT of work and i think pauls last run made 17Xrwkws with pulleys, spacer, z tube popchargers, exhaust. ill let him clarify but if hes really pulling 220rwkws NA i really wanna know what hes running

220rwkw is insanely good!! :D

Pulled 173rwkw this weekend. Have got a Stillen airbox, Z tube, V+ Plenum spacer and HFC. So, as the others are asking - what mods are you running?

I think it's time for me to get my car chipped (and add more mods). Now I don't feel so great about pulling 173 :/

Hey guys i only got that because the dyno was broken. My last run working run was 191 and i was hoping for 194kw but the dyno was giving wrong readings e.g. this girls crewman last pulled just over 300rwkw but this time it pulled over 400rwkw with no extra mods. So they shut the dyno down.

here is a video of the first car on the dyno which i think was the reason it started to fail.

my mods are:

Pop charger with Z tube

Plenum spacer

Grounding kit

Extrators

Light weight underdrive pulleys

Next is Camshaft and then a Dyno tune Want to break that 200kw mark :(

Definately not the way it should be...but these kind of weird decision making things happen.

At Perth Autosalon 2010, our car club plus two others full of mild and wild done-up cars entered and lost the main prize of "Best Car Club" to a bunch of Holdens and Fords with air bags and neons.

they were pretty modded up victor thats why they won. and yerh i had a feeling 220rwkw was an error. and regarding to place powis st should be fine.

Yeah, probably when comparing all the cars they displayed, etc. Maybe I was just jealous I wanted a Jap spec cars to win it. :(

Interesting you bring up heavily modded Commodores/Falcons.

I was the lone V35 representative up at Powercruise this weekend (Barbagallo). The cars there were simply unreal. HSVs/FPVs, classic aussie/american muscle, a lot of s13-s15s and r32-r34 Skylines and even a few Euro heavyweights. However, amidst the company of such highly modified machines, my V35 with mere aftermarket rims pulled A LOT of attention. Had people asking me what the hell it was, if they could sit in it, if they could look under the hood, few taking pictures and even a couple of people wanting to come for a ride around the track. I was actually really surprised even though they're getting more common, there's still a huge number of people who've never seen one before.

I took much pleasure basking in all the attention.

That being said, I think U guys (Victor, xtc and Paul) should have taken the prize away from the modified locals. Oh well, we know ours looks a million bux so that's what counts :(

Have you got a copy of the rules anywhere?

Fair enough I'd be unimpressed at the Aurion getting a showing (since it's manufactured in Australia), but a 350Z is an "Asian Import". I don't see anything in the title requiring the competitor car to be a grey Asian import.

and yes they are made OS but so is every car in Oz save some fords and some holdens.

But they're not all made in Asia, so BMWs, Mercs, etc wouldn't have been in your category.

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
