hey all!

ok heres the situation.

were filming a short movie for my mate's film project at uni.

in this movie, there are R31 skylines. lol.

we need someone who has a (factory as possible) WHITE ADM R31 to use as a car to shoot the sequences with, as we already have a white R31 we are going to drive into a tree for one sequence tonight

so if anyone owns or knows someone who owns a White R31 and will be freewithin 3 weeks to help us film, please let me know!

i know its short notice, blame Drew. hahaha.

THERE IS A REWARD!

the person who is kind enough to lend us such vehicle will have there choice of either

A) a good nick, running RB30E engine (with the auto box attached if you wish) or

the set of 14 inch wheels that are on the R31 that is due for demolition. they arent too bad, and have great tread!

so let me know what you can muster up!

if you have a mate that has a car that fits the description, let me know

cheers!

Will.

^^^^ There is so much win in that post

Wish I had more notice, I'd love to come and help destroy said 31.

In any case, I would help you out, but my 31 is a grey 2 door import.

Maybe try posting here: http://motamota.r31skylineclub.com/index.php?board=31.0

We only have about half a dozen active members left in QLD, but nearly all of them have a white aus spec except me. Do you need an S2 or S3?

Also, I'd love to see a copy of this when its done :D

haha cheers smity :D

im pretty sure there will be a copy going up on youtube when its all complete. remind me to link you.

the crash scene has now been performed, and was pretty cool hahaha.

i was gonna post it up on R31skylineclub but feared there would be a million flaming keyboard warriors that would talk shit. you know what i mean

for the record, it was a series 3, but will take anything thats going, and try to keep the front end from being seen hahaha.

Keep it to the QLD section and you should be OK, I'll spank anyone who flames you. I think most will find it just as amusing as I do anyway .

The rear end is a little different too, but not as noticable as the front I guess.

Why didn't you just film all your other scenes before destroying the car? Not road registered I guess?

I have such a car. It is a bit beaten up but it would be an honour to feature in the film. If you want a better looking one for your film I won't be offended lol :D

You could use a spare RB30 too :/

smity, we had to film the crash scene first coz it was the only time the stunt drivers were available, plus having no rego didnt help either haha.

beelzebub, thats pretty much exactly what we are after! ill send you a PM and will let the boys know.

thanks for that man!

Will.

    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
    • Neg, the top one is actually for the front. The sizes are 18x10.5 +18 and 18x11 +32.   I measured many times but I'm sure I'll have problems as this is the thread for problems.
