I had just come off the Hornibrook bridge about 4ish this afternoon, after spending a small fortune getting the mini roadworthy and re-registered, and was heading back to Brisbane, when as I rounded a bend there were two motorbike police with their laserguns. Busted! One had already pulled over a lady in a white cressida and unfortunately the second one got me. I got my license ready and he walked over and said the usual "Do you know what the speed limit is through here?". I replied "Yeah, its 90, I pretty sure I had crept up to about 105ish". The police guy then replied "Yeah I got you doing 107. He then took my license and went away as they usually do. I sat in the car swearing and bashing the gearstick. Here is the weird bit, the Police guy then returns, hands back my license and says, "I pull over heap of people everyday and everyone of them has every excuse under the sun, I have heard them all, because of your honesty I am goig to let you off with a warning, it would have be 3pts and $150. Keep your speed down and have a nice day".

How good is that! That truely made my day. Lesson, just let police do there jobs, don't be a smart arse and you never know, you might just get let off. Cheers to Redcliffe police. My record still stands, no points lost in the 2.5 years of owning the line.

I think he just liked the mini.

I know when andrew had the mini, so many old diggers would come up to him and start a story with the line "back in my day" we got quite sick of it after a while.

I reckon if you were in the skyline or the GTR you would have been ****ed over.

nah.. cops aren't all bad - speak to them just like a person and a lot of the time they are cool. Its best not to step on the foot of "how you doing mate" though :D thats a little too friendly to start off with - they don't like that most of the time.

That is the strange thing Nismogirl, I was in the Skyline! I had already dropped the mini off and had got a lift back to get the Skyline. I am definately counting my lucky stars. I am sure that is my once in a lifetime let off though.

Knore: Got the shipping notice today, Car arrives in the Brisbane port on the 13th! So close! Its finally starting to feel like I have purchased a GTR, can't wait.

Simple answer don't speed...

Second response, "I was not speeding"

Hand held laser guns are the most unreliable speed detection device ever invented. If you take it to court and you have admitted to speeding then the judge has no choice but to confirm the fine, if you have denied the probability is that, based on recent cases you would have the fine squashed...

There was a site in another thread outlining step by step how to fight speeding fines, a quick search would pull it up.

Also I have only ever had 3 speeding tickets in 10 years with no other violations and I have only been driving in AU for 5 years and all three have been here.

All 3 times was totally honest, and once I was in a hurry to get to the hospital for the birth of my first child and still got the fine, 93 in a 80 zone ;)

Just luck of the draw I guess with cops, wether you get a good one or bad one, or what type of mood they are in, BUT the law is still the law! If you get caught speeding then it is your own fault.

I dont say I dont speed, but when I get a fine for it I dont wine and bitch about it because I knew what I was doing and if I didnt want to get a fine, I just should not have been speeding, simple!

Yup, should easily be ready in time. Don't know how the drift will go, I was pretty ordinary with RWD but just wait till the time trials, no witches hats this time!

You never know, I might bring the mini! FWD Drift!

    • Oh my god, I feel sick. So much second year uni formulas and crap in that for modelling a sprung and dampened system. Blergh!

    • Hey Prank, Any chance you could easily lock all the old FS and WTB posts? Even if it's just a one off hit through there. The majority of posts are people asking someone if they still have something for sale from 8+ years ago, when the person who originally advertised it hasn't been on the site in donkeys years. Just a thought I had. Maybe go through and lock everything older than 12 months or something?
    • I'd be thinking it's the other way around. Less of an impact when rich compared to lean, but definitely in a lean condition the cat specifically uses up a lot more free oxygen. When rich it's grabbing oxygen from other places to like NOx, but it still gets converted to CO2 and H2O.
    • Sorry yeah - My post was a mess and I attempted to fix it. In my example both sensors are post-cat. I realized later that I had literally pulled the motor apart and we saw no evidence of any knock and everything was sweet, so my WB was likely accurate (enough!, if anything the engine looked a little rich) In your example I'd want to recalibrate both sensors. I realize this is not possible in the real world. Best you can do is: 1) Calibrate current sensor 2) Calibrate a brand new sensor in same location (do you have an older one to compare to? Or is this a new purchase) Observe any changes in readings. I always thought it was 1M, I am clearly out of date. Mine is likely 2m+. I didn't want to have to choose one bank over another in my application.
