Should have had the intake pipe go into an empty airbox in the standard position and from there to go back to the turbo. a mate of mine had this setup on his BMW and had the pipe go into his stock airbox which his BOV was inside aswell :P Not once did he get caught either.

Guess i'll have to get new injectors when i do more performance. which i'll remind everyone won't be for quite a while.

How many people would be interested to see the difference in power output when i put the new box in? cause i'll be getting it retuned when i do it, so i guess i might as well put the dyno sheets up.

ca 18 375cc injectors, all cleaned and flow tested.

As far as i know they should be suffiecent enough to handle the power i want to get out of the car.

Whats your car putting to the wheels?

R33 ones are 370cc from what I know and they max out around 210-220kw.

Oh, need to ask this, at the moment i don't have a BOV, when i back off on the boost, i get a flutter sound, is that bad for the turbo?

And seeing as im staying auto, do i need a bov with my setup? Seeing as when the gears change i don't need to back off the accelerator and i'm still on boost for the entire next gear, will putting in a bov ruin that continuous effect?

If i need a bov, i want one that doesn't make much sound when im driving around normally, i dont mind if it makes noise when i've been booting it, but still the more discrete the better. I like the sequential bov's, if that what there called.

no its not bad for the turbo, but a recirc makes tuning slightly easier and will make it a lot quieter if that is what you are after, atmo venting will just be even louder and more annoying.

if you get anything adapt a recirc bov into the intake.

fit a std BOV and it will clear the issues of flutter

the BOV only fires when you close the throttle body so it wont affect the throttle body always on (auto gearbox style)

imho fit a bov

nissan made it std for a good reason

only thing is standard manifolds etc have no provisions for a stock bov, might be easier to fit an aftermarket one with a plumback attachment. I know the rb30et didn't come with a bov from the factory either.

It isn't a huge issue, just comes down to noise and making it easier to tune on gearshifts.

when i get the new gearbox put in i'll tell my mechanic to put in a recirc bov at the same time. Then we'll see what difference that makes on the retune.

Oh and i was just talking to the mechanic and he recons the injectors should be good for about 250rwkw. The limiting component is my gearbox at the moment. So we shall see what happens later down the track.

cheers

Kurt

Hey Kurt,

I'll have to come round and check it out now that you've got her tuned up... I'm glad to see Marty got it all sorted out for you.

Do you still have a stock plastic intake pipe?

For eveyones info, Tassie dosn't have road worthy certs every year and I've never seen a 'defect' sticker... I've been driving heavily modified imports for 10 years. The only thing I've heard of is tickets for bald tyres, lights, loud exhausts and driving offences.

Oh and there's no limmit for p platers.

Cheers

You may be able to get close to that (or maybe a bit more) if you use an adjustable fuel pressure reg.

Well scrap every thing i said about trying to hide it then.

I still have the plastic snorkle from the front to the box, Marty might still have the pipe that goes from the box to the plenum.

Send us a text on 0435 262 590. I've got tomorro off for once.

I've got a genuine Tomei Fuel Pressure Regulator, don't know if its adjustable or not, but i don know that all the modifcations done to the car were done with quality and reliability in mind.

tomei is adjustable, wind the top bolt (after undoing the lock nut) into the reg to increase the pressure, but only do this on the dyno right before a re tune and dont go crazy with the pressure.

Id get creative and re-install the airbox to plenum pipe to complete the stealth look. Cut the bottom out of it and slide it over the alluminium pipe.

Don't stress about the injectors.

I've got a stall convertor already. or will it not fit a new box?

Hey Kurt, don't you have a spare r31 auto box??? Your best bet would be to send the spare auto box away to get built up (more clutchs, bigger bands, shift kit etc) to handle the extra power... That way it will swap straight in without any buggering around... to put a 33gts-t auto in would be alot of stuffing around.. and it won't last as long as a properly build box anyway.

Cheers

    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
