hey guys i have done a bit of researching on the greddy emanage. alotof people say they like them and they get a good tune out of them but when i spoke to hyperdrive they said they are a dealer for them but wont sell them due to they cant get a good tune out of them. what are your thoughts on the greddy emanage and who in perth will tune one?

I was looking at getting an Emanage about a year ago, but same story; the information on them sounds really good but as soon as you speak to a tuner they tell you they are rubbish.

In the end I decided that if they are going to be the ones tuning the thing then I would be wise to get something that they were comfortable tuning. Best to choose a tuner first, then choose the ecu that they recommend to you. No point having a fancy ecu (which compared to others, the Emanage is not) that nobody wants to tune.

yeah very true what did you end up going for and who do you use to tune yours

Well after speaking to Andrew at Hyperdrive I decided to go with NIStune; Andrew tunes it.

yeah that was my next iption sounds liek thats they way to go

how d you rate your nistune?

I love it mate, at first I didn't think it was very good because I was getting terrible fuel economy but Andrew retuned it and now I'm getting about 500kms to a tank. It all comes down to the tune in the end.

oh nice not that im looking for fuel economy anyway not a daily its just a weekender plus i dont pay for fuel

Nistune will be more cost effective also as the Emanage often need the loom wired up which can cost a few hours in labour. Other good option is a plug and play PowerFC unit for the skyline platforms, however some are hard to source now but they are a very popular choice for ECU owners in WA over the past 5 years or so.

yeah i was looking at power fc however like you said getting very scarce now and becoming hard to find even andrew at hyperdrive said good luck at finding one

Well actually I think PowerFC's aren't all that hard to find, they are always being sold on forums like these. The killer is that people still value them really highly, often you end up paying almost as much as it would cost to get a brand new VIPEC. NIStunes are by far the best bang for buck option, cheap to buy, cheap to install, cheap to tune but still a really good ecu. Also retains the stock ECU settings such as knock control, which other ECU's such as PowerFC do not.

Sean at allstar can tune emanage but he dislikes it alot, the main reason behind this is that he had major issue trying to tune one on my mates turbo accord sent alot of dyno time and just couldn't get the thing to work. No matter what he did the ecu couldn't add enough fuel. even with the fuel map set to 100% the car was still leaning out in top rpm.

It interesting because a tuner in the eastern state, raves about the emanage and how good it is for a piggy-pack ecu but it seems no one in perth has yet to them to work correctly

What model PFC are you looking for they are becomming rare but still are common on yahoo auction for R33/34 model. Looking around 1-1.5k due to exchange rate.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
