Expensive Sound Systems

So ive been hearing alot about people getting sound systems that are worth 7-13 grand an i cant seem to figure out why they cost that much?

I go into a store an see like the head unti for $300 the sub an amp around $1000 an so forth.

What i wanna know is why there are systems that cost that much an where would they be buying all there audio stuff from?

I've been hearing a lot about ppl buying cars called Lamborghini Gallardo's, that are worth 500 grand. Why would anyone pay that much for car with only two seats and no boot?

The answers you seek:

1:Quality costs money.

2:Each piece of equipment you buy, adds to the total cost; more equipment, more cost.

3:Installation cost of quality equipment is at least equal to the cost of aforementioned quality equipment, often more.

4:Quality equipment does not consist of a Roadsound tape deck, some 6x9's (no, not even 200 watt dual cones) and a 5 band graphic equaliser.

5:Quality installation does not consist of self tappers, scotch locks and a roll of insulating tape.

6:Aforementioned quality equipment is unlikely to be found at Supercheap.

its very easy to end up with 20-50k + in a car stereo and accessories,

did a Ferrari with nearly 50k worth in it. had the car apart for 7 months , same person dropped another 6k on his GT Pantera, and 100k on his home theatre complete with speakers around his private lake ?? and that was in 92 , labour is much steeper now!!

or a few demo cars for SEMA/CES show in vegas. or dealer rep cars ???

sound off cars, vans, etc, boats etc.

you can get mids and tweets that cost 10k a pair.

amps can go over that

a truck full of batteries isn't cheap or multiple runs of 0 gauge wires and a rewould alterantor to run at 16volts ins't cheap

and extreme custom work is billed by the hour, not the by the job.

like anything, you can end up with a car that is mad, and not drivable

same thing goes with engine mods, too much and you can't drive it on the roads.

its all down to preference mate

some people love sound aand the sound quality it gives up, so a expensive head unit, monoblock amp, speaker amp, capacitors and 1ohm sub are their cup of tea

whereas some other are just happy with somethign that plays music ...

As everyone else has said, quality costs money.

If you want to spend $300 on a ported box/sub/amp combo that can replicate one frequency well, good for you. If you want to listen to a broad range of music at a good volume with decent clarity, you pay the price.
