Im sorry to here about your stolen car, ive had this car since 1983.

Cheers

Not stolen from me!

I have had one of my PNV's since 2001 and that car was destined for the crusher in Japan, before connections of the importer rescued it and exported it to Australia, where it was registered & garaged, till I bought it in 2001. I am it's 2nd and last Aussie owner.

It has been garaged by me since going through a gradual rebuild/refurb with certain performance upgrades along the way.

As for the L20et not being a huge power beast, you're correct, but with 108Kw at the flywheel and driven through an 4.11:1 R200 diff and being relatively light, mine climbs over Mt Ouseley coming out of Wollongong in 5th gear @ 90kph with 2 pax easy as can be, so it's adequate for it's intentions.

Cheers, D

^ Hey Mario, you wouldn't happen to own a mint cond, burgundy turbo c210 would you?

I keep seeing the same one in the Kew/Hawthorn/Camberwell area.....as they are extremely rare to see I thought id ask to see if its yours or someone you know.

Sorry if its a bit off topic.

Sure is good old Anthony,

He is part of the c210 Mafia.. he is a good friend of myself and Drew.

We need to make him an offer he cant refuse. :(

As these are definitly hard to find parts for, I really appreciate what you have done with this.

Below is the proposed C211... needs alot of TLC (efi was a surprise!)

Mate if i were you i would grab that, i have not seen a c211 for a while now.

later on you can decide what you want to do with it. They only appreciate in value.

When i found my coupe it was a mess.

this car looks straight.

Cheers

Mario,

With your knowledge, is there any chance the C211 was a stop gap model, somewhat similar to the 420 compact Jag?

D

Good question Mate, all i know is the c210 was released in october 1977, and were facelifted in august 1979 to the c211,

They continued up to july 1981, so they made a plenty.

Except in Australia Nissan imported only 30 a month, because it was under a import quota system Nissan decided to import other

models which were cheaper.

The c211 remained mostly in Japan some were scatted around the world, but Japan held most of them.

The Australian Govt: was always protecting the local car market from these type of cars.

can you imagine if Nissan had imported the c211 turbo here what would holden and ford do to match the Japanese cars

thats why they wanted Nissan to drop the GT logo, and Toyota too they and the insurance companies would not have it

so Nissan dispec: their cars and put GL BADGES on them and removed all the top goodies found in the Japanese cars.

When the R30 came it too was dispec: look at the difference of your car compared to the local Australian Delivered R30.

Cheers.

Im a bit like you, i enjoy my driving, and Skylines love those twisty bends and mountains, when i was younger well

i did i guess the same as young guys today do...I guess nothing really changes.

i find the l20et a very reliable motor and i enjoy it.

even the straight 2.4, 6 is more than adequate, i think im starting to mellow.

End result, my car

poverty pack, no air con, PS, no power windows, mirrors, no turbo, no Idea pad (LOL). Just basic family goodness.

you're walking C210/211 encyclopedia!

also yes. get that C211! i'd love to have one.

I think its a c210/c211 virus... its a sickness

I remember my dad saying what a waste of money and time.

today he is 86 and worships the thing!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

Makes you want to drop a donut on the steps of parilament in canberra..

and thats not the one you buy at coles :(

i needs to be raining for the L24S to light up a ... single pegger.

That's diferent!

I can chirp the tyres on my L20et PNV fairly easily on dry roads and can get it a bit out of shape changing gears if I try :(

How old is "mellow" Mario? I'm 61 next month and there is a guy on this forum 66yostagea that is 71 I think now.

I'm enjoying your information on C210/211.

Cheers, D

Clutch dumping first in dry doesnt spin long enough or has got too slow to put brakes on.

Can chirp second gear, from 5000+ in first.

in the wet possibilites are limitless, 3rd gear before u leave intersection, all that jazz.

Related fact, car is only making 80.5RWHP, 60RWKW

Your good company Mate, i owned 2 R30,s they are such a beautiful car, i really missed them when i sold them.

there is a guy here who has a 1983 coupe he was a member of the nissan datsun sports owners club.

it has the l20 turbo and if i recall under 100.000kms

i know his first name Steve i think he was looking to sell it.

its good this forum ''US MELLOW gentlemen"" I hope you like that need to pass our knowledge to the young

H

haha with my 210, i gave up on trying to do burnouts pretty quickly as power is non-existant. One night in a quiet industrial estate with the boys i joined the drift train and managed some pretty decent 80km/h entries! but the exit end of the drift was fkn hairy as there is about 10 degrees play in the steering wheel. I rejoined the audience for health and safety reasons.

hahaha i'd like to see standard C210 drifting, i find theres just too much understeer.

I always keep funny business to the wet now if that, just don'tt want to cause a lot of damage to car.

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
