Im doing alot of restoration work on my gtr, and am looking at removing the hicas completely. Was thinking of looping the high pressure line at the hicas solenoid back into the powersterring cooler. But another option would be to fit an r33 gtr powersteering pump and mounting bracket. Has anyone done this to an r32 gtr before? If so where there any other mods that had to be done?

I've done it to my 32 gtst and it worked quite well. But now that i to am restoring while its stripped im installing a 33 rack and pump.

To route it through the cooler i just used a couple of barb fittings that i had from mounting a transmission cooler and some 3/8 oil hose. Was real simple to do and only took 15mins

Ah ok i think i might just do the loop, is the fluid at that line going to be at a very high pressure (considering its not gone through the front solenoid yet, just straight from the pump?)

Yeah just make sure the hose is oil rated, it will say on the box/roll at the auto parts store what it can be used for. Dont use heater hose or garden hose as it is doesnt work as well

yes. that is the nice way. or you could remove the back of the pump, get a magnet and remove all the vanes. put it back on and block off the outlet. can be done in the car.

i pulled apart the pump the other day, soo just take out the bit that are rectangluar bits of metal in the rear of the pump?, does this work a charm? :)

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?

LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
