There is another Company that insures grey imports at very competitive rates. But only if you or one of your parents is a pharmacist or medico.

"Guild Insurance" formerly Pharmacy Guild Insurance.

They simply regard people in these fields as being lower risk - and thus, one's Postcode doesn't matter.

Thanks Terry, they said they wont insure a grey import! Maybe I didnt speak to the right person...

RACV will, my gtr is insured with them.

Hey, I take back what I said about RACV being cheaper... well they are $140 cheaper, but value the car at $7,500! Ten grand less that Just Car. If I want to increase the value ("agreed", and its the highest they go) to $12,500, they ask for a $400 increase in premium.

I cant win here. :P

Cheaper...well not for me...Just cars agreed value on my skyline $13000 Racv's max $8800.

Just cars agreed on my silvia LOTS...lol Racv's max $5000.

Just cars montly on skyline $71.42 Racvs $100+ :D

Just cars monthly on silvia $51.39 Racvs $75 :D

It appears the only winners with RACV are the younger contingent who have not had insurance(or accident) before and are automatically given Rating 1.

No savings can be had here....Just cars I'm stuck with you...just give me choice of repairer and I might be happy about it....grrr :action-smiley-069:

no shit Danielle. Trust me if I could jump ship from just car I would- they charge me close to 3k a yr and force me to go to shit repairers when the accident isn't even ur fault. And I pay 3k a yr why, exactly?

Shannons won't insure me due to previous driving history...3 years ago

And racv quoted me over 12k per yr for premium.

For what its worth, I just got quoted $1750 for my R34 for Just Cars.. (online)

I have no accident history and I'm 30.. not really sure how you got quoted $71 a month, lol. I think I'll be giving them a phone call..

Depends a lot on the area you live in.

I have a $20K car, an $18K car and a $15K car (apparently...) all insured comprehensively with Shannons for $220 per month. I'm 26, no claim history or fines but I live in what they consider a dodgy area. That includes my 10% CAMS license discount.

I'm 27,2 under 10km/h fines, and high risk suburb.

Shannons is 1700/yr, 45k agreed for the 33. Their initial quote was 2700/35k. which i was not happy bout.

few calls later and down it went, which was good, but it stinks i got 1k off just because i know someone.

Just Cars were worse. it was around 1900 with 30k no room to move value

The car has 25-30k just in mods, can be proven etc.... fken idiots they are.

It's a pity LSV don't do imports anymore.

My GTSR was $1200/30k agreed.

    • For fuelling the Haltechs have O2WB fuel controllers. Very useful for helping tuning VE and correcting for *small* mistakes. Of course if your injector/cam/trigger/sensor data is just wrong (or for a GTT which is not a GT) then you will get impossible reactions to things. I am sure you know this already but the reason people don't typically put haltechs (or any Aftermarket ECU) on GT's is because there's practically no real gains to be had - So this knowledge won't be commonplace.

    • Shouldn't need a "base map" for anything other than guidance to ignition tuning. You just need the engine capacity right, the injector size right, and something, almost anything, for a VE map. On an NA engine, fuelling is almost completely a function of load signal & rpm. It should run and drive with a completely flat fuel map. It will be too lean under load, but that's easily fixed. We used to tune all ECUs without any base map. There were no such things (until someone had tuned a near stock engine on one, and then they had a "base map".
    • What did you actually buy/how much did it cost? When I got mine in like.. 2017...? 2019? the aim was to run Torque for gauges via ODB2 and things like Track Addict/Laptimers/Dashcam/Reversecam/Spotify etc. Mine never broke, but I wonder if you've got the same needs (it sounds like it). Cause I liked the idea of being able to do anything with it. That said, yours also cost 3x the cost of what I spent so... food for thought.
