Powerfc Ecu Locked?

I'm trying to buy an ECU but the guy is telling me it has been locked by the last tuner. What gives? I thought the PFC was meant to be retunable and always customisable and now you get tuners locking the device?

Will an Init All get rid of this and return to base map?

What can I do about this thing?

some tuners lock the ecu for 2 reasons. 1 to stop the car owner altering the tune and possibly damaging the engine and then coming back to the tuner and blaming them for it (it happens). 2 is to simply stop someone copying the tune.

as for resetting it, i'm not sure if that will do the job (not sure if you need the code to reset it), but i really know very little about the PFC so i'm not the best to answer this question. one option though is to simply take it to the tuner who did the tune and see if they will unlock it for you.

Pretty sure you can reset it if it's been locked. If you do the init all it will reset the ecu to it's base tune and you will need to do the first startup self learn process. Then go get it tuned
