hi guys,

i am interested in this gtr but i query why only the engine bay was resprayed & not the outside of the car, the seller also explained that it was in a front end hit but not sure of the extent of damage as he bought it after it was repaired...anyway, i cross checked the 'strut tower' where it meets with the 'wheel arch' on my current gtr & it is definitely a smooth finish with a hard film of silastic to finish it off(it looks factory)...whereas these pics look like it has been welded & looks quite messy - what are your thoughts guys?

this looks messy as well, passenger side bonnet hinge mount to body:

i'd hate to buy a car then find out later that it may have been a cut & shut :(

something else i spotted is that the front right guard sits higher than the door...hmmm

are u referring to the underside where the weld cannot be seen? i'd have to get the wheel off & black plastic inner wheel arch cover.

what doesnt make sense is why would the spray painter make a new seam when the factory finish looks great & his finish looks terrible? my only explanation is that the front end hit must have been hard enough to squash the front wheel arches & new have newly fitted wheel arch guards

thanks anthony, but why would you ruin a nice factory seal with aftermarket sealer? what is underneath? is it hiding something underneath like a major repair?

do you think that the wheel arches have been changed due to a big front end accident? to dmamage the wheel arches chances are that it may have structural damage...

i just spoke to my panel beater who is highly reputable here in sydney & he said to stay clear.

his rule of thumb "if it doesnt look like the factory seal or 1 side looks different to the other side, they're hiding something"

in this case both sides look the same so both sides have been done with new wheel arch skirts

...makes sense to me :)
