People need to be able to edit their original posts in the for sale section.

I know it sounds a bit crazy, but I think it'd be easier if prospective buyers only had to read the seller's original post. Rather than having to read the original post then scour the rest of the thread to see which items have been sold or had their prices changed.

Thank you for considering this wacky and unconventional suggestion.

Sincerely,

Common sense

Scammers tend to edit their first post after having ripped people of hudreds or thousands of dollars, making it impossible to be of any assistance afterwards.

As a side benefit, it also enforces sellers to adhere to well thought out, logical sale posts rather than a half arsed effort that is of no use to anyone.

If this seems disadvantageous to you, then by all means create a second "placeholder post" for future updates.

Thanks for your suggestion, but this feature is the result of operating under various arrangements for over 6 years. This is the optimal result, deal w/ it.

Kind regards,

Reality.

Ahh, good point. People can't scam if they can't edit.

Wait, no..

How familiar are you with MySQL and MySQL dumps?

If a copper contacted you about some poor schmo who spent $5k on a non-existent turbo kit only to find that the original thread was nowhere to be found, reckon you'd be able to trawl through 100+GB of mysql dump files to find the original thread and post?

Oh wait, but what if the thread was made and deleted between backups?! What will we do now???

I see you put a lot of thought into your suggestion, but you could have also put the same amount of thought into PM'ing a moderator of the for sale section to request they change your thread.

We're not exactly new to all of this. :)

wow triple threat smackdown.

lol Dvus its been discussed heaps and its the most manageable solution. PM a mod or admin if you need massive changes, or in future post a placeholder ppost after the first post for updates.

triple threat. so hot right now.

What's triple threat?

Speaking of SAU's role in hunting down forum scammers, I read this somewhere;

"Skylines Australia takes no responsibility for transactions that occur as a result of this forum. CAVEAT EMPTOR - BUYER BEWARE!!!"

Anyways, I had a feeling I'd end up getting into a cockfight by posting feedback in the feedback section. Jokes aside though, I just wanted to put it out there as a matter of principle, not because it's a big issue for me. Thank you for your explanations.

I suppose your local paper should be responsible for every item they advertise in the classifieds too.

No we're not responsible. However, we do like to take time out of our normal schedule to help those who have met with irresponsible sellers.

Well it's been put out there in 10 pages of the thread that already covers this

    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
