Have a Look at black wire based ones most brand are just as good as each other, you usally pay for the brand in that price range, a major part is where the alarm installer installs the unit etc from the thief if they get into the car. Hard to define a brand cos eac have there pro's and con's what features would u want?? eg. like auto start etc :)

if i had a GTR i sure as hell would be spending more than $500 on my alarm, but im sure u have reasons 4 it, and pls dont tell me its cause u just dont wanna spend to much!!!

mongoose are good and u can prolly get a decent one for around $500, also brands like flashpoint, cobra, pirahna and viper are good.....actually anything that sounds like an animal that could kill ya pretty quick is a safe bet.

make sure u get black wired and try for at least 3point immob.

and play dealers and installers off against each other as they will usually drop their prices considerably to beat their competitors, that and the fact that they are grossly overpriced to begin with.

good luck mate

Personaly im going for a Boomerang, which costs $1000

The Brant Nemisis is also in that range. Quiktrak is $2k installed then $300 a year, but I have been told doesn't work well in car parks/underground and is only a 3 point immobiliser so can leave you vulnerable to parts theft.

According to Brant, all of these alarms will be upgradable with a tracking module when it becomes available (at the moment there is only some vague "watch out for this feature" statement on their website).

They range from $350 - over $1000 "but this includes install". Now, lots of people like to do their own but its a job you dont need to do, I have personally watched them do several and the guy is good at what he does, havent had any probs with thier system, I would go for thier base alarm with key pad (six digit security code imobilisation) its about the $500 mark..

If you go for a boom-and- bang (Boomerang) it needs to be set up properly and I have heard of many issues with them, ask amaru, there biggest point is the remote start and pager, which is great if you want your car to jump into another car or a curb? or you want dick heads to be paging u everytime they walk past your car.

I have a mate also with a talking alarm, it scares the shit out of people and has the keep away form me affect.. they seam to work well, how ever they go off all the time...

If you get a cheep alarm you open your self to all kinds of trouble, such as having to re-do the job cause its failing, get one that just goes off all the time for no reason, or one that just dont work..

I would once again recommend brant, they do it for you, they warant both the alarm and the install, and they are not that highly priced, and they will go to just about anywhere..

PLUS if you organise more than one car you can get discounts for it.. if people in canberra wanna organise a few to get them let me know and I will organise something as I am planning to get one done myself.

    • I thought that might be the case, thats what I'll start saving for. Thanks for the info
    • Ps i found the below forum and it seems to be the same scenario Im dealing with. Going to check my ECU coolant temp wire tomorrow    From NICOclub forum: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:23 am I am completely lost on this. Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
