Hey there, I've been thinking of modifying my Skyline 250 GT. Does it share the same head design as the VQ35DE's?

Also, does it share the same internals as the Stagea's VQ25DET? Thinking of doing a low pressure turbo. Unfortunately

can't find any Stagea halfcuts here in Malaysia; unless I can get the bits I need shipped from Australia. And if it's a straight

forward ECU swap etc (one can dream).

Have to say I was very disappointed to find out that they made Stageas with the same engines in turbo form... why not the skyline? This is obviously why they will never be a desired import...

I'd do the stagea engine transplant... AND swap all the front panels too

Custom fabbed a pair of 2.5" decat pipes for the 250. Due to the increased airflow can now clearly hear the empty resonator and muffler rasping tinnily. BTW 350Z cat back exhausts aren't feasible, the fuel tank is at the rear below the boot and 350Z style mufflers will not be able to fit; it's possible to fit two N1 style straight-through mufflers on each side but it'll be way too loud for what I'm aiming for.

Also, the resonator (midbox) is ridiculously huge. And flat. Curves around the prop shaft for a good 3.5 feet. I'll have to repack it; any replacement resonators, even box types, would make the exhaust boomy :/

Well not familiar with tuning direct injection...can e-Manage handle it? :P If yes then I'd be very interested in the manifolds; a turbo of similar spec can be sourced hehehehhe

edit: on second thought, I can just fabricate a manifold. Labor cost is cheap here in Malaysia. It's the direct-injection that's a pain though.

Yeh, not sure on the direct injection.

You wont be able to source a turbo anything like the Stagea one, lots of fabrication with bugger all room. Better to go stock unless you can get the work done for nothing.

Yeah not looking at a dual muffler setup.

Bleh. Put in a bottle of Redline SI-1 Complete Fuel System Cleaner and it started to run super rich. Idle started to get funny, after a few minutes at idle, RPM rises to the 1.5-2k range and it's effectively in limp mode where full throttle will get you to 2-2.3k rpm. ECU is throwing a P0175, Fuel System Rich (Bank 2). Restarting the engine gets rid of this and it's ok to drive around, just not idle for long. The exhaust gases at idle are tear inducing, and almost smells like paint thinners.

*Oh, and under load it spews out lots of white smoke. It's not eating oil though so I'm hoping it's just unspent fuel.

I'm hoping it's because the additive is cleaning/causing havoc and in a tank or two will clear out. Anyone else have this problem before?

    • would a r34 gtr hood line up with gt/gtt stock fenders? after latch, front bumper and hinges are swapped for gtr ones? or would the fenders be too low or high in relation to the hood surface? ( I believe seeing somewhere that gtr front fenders use some type of riser for the sides, but do not know how that relates to stock gt/gtt fenders.)
    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
