Ok driving around last night and car started running rough and then 1 loud backfire n that was it turned off and didnt start again.

It kicks over and over and over but nothing.

Things Iv tried...

Tried to restart...Nothing but seems to struggle...Starting starting then a miss starting starting miss

Unplug CAS starting smooth all the way through till I stop starting.

Plug CAS up Unplug coilpack loom (back of engine) same as the first one starting starting then a miss starting starting miss

Plug and unplug CAS and can hear the fuel/ticking of injectors.

I havnt looked for spark yet

ALl fuses are fine nothing blown

ECU faults came back 12 and 21 which is (12 AFM) and (21 Ignition Signal)

So my question is...Do you think my CAS is rooted?

I dont know many people here in town with Skylarks n shit so I got buckleys chances to try another b4 I buy.

CAS has been put back together without the cam gear timing cover on there and I once read somewhere that you should

space the CAS out to compensate for the cover NOT being there (I didnt do)

CAS doesnt have any slop in it, the shaft spins but not freely on its own but if you hold the shaft and spin the larger

part it spins fine.

If its CAS ill be sure to add in washers to conpensate for the loss of the cover not being there next time round.

Any input will be great thanks lads, like I said Im sure its CAS related. I dunno why the ECU is throwing in the AFM aswell

but if I find a cheap S2 AFM ill prolly grab it at the same time for peace of mind.

my mates CAS solved the problem.

Clearly if you plan on taking the cam cover off and leaving them off space them out with a small washer

to compensate for the lack of the cam cover.

Next thing to tackle...100k service.

Cheers for the help

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
