Find a used motor with warranty, Japan autos sold me mine and Im very happy with the condition.

You will save a packet and have the car back on the road asap.

You need to think ahead, how much power are you going to be chasing, if you just want something with a bit more than standard the a second hand motor might be the go (just remember most of them only come with a 30 day warranty) if you want to wind boost in a get some good power out of it or you want to use it at a race track then you would be better off rebuilding it so you know everything is good.

Would also have been more helpfull if you had found SAU before you bought it, lots of bad reports about them on here.

Well the owner of OH ended up hitting a tree and is no longer on this earth - hence the shop has shut i believe.

However you can't really just fit one cyclinder. Nor will you get away with it all for $4,500 (taking into account turbo price/fitting).

So as Scott said, the only way to meet that budget is get a 2nd hand R33 motor, change turbos, bolt it in.

-5s in that case will also be the wrong choice as you will not be able to fully utilise them on a stock motor as reliability terms would suggest to be more conservative as you are obviously low on budget/funds.

Even @ 4.5k you'll wont even get there TBH.

2nd hand motor, installed, turbos (id say -9s) then ECU/tune/clutch/AFM/Injectors and everthing else that goes with it.

Will come to a lot more than 4.5k

If thats all the power you want, Garrett -7s mate.

The -5s will make 380rwkw or there abouts, so totally not what you want.

Just have a search and a read through the dyno results thread, you'll soon see what you need in terms of parts.

For 280rwkw you'll get away with stock injectors and AFM so a good saving of $$$ in that respect.

Motor wise - no idea mate. I've never purchased one but there is already one place mentioned so far :)

and as for selling yours, lots of people are after a complete rb26 to rebuild at a decent price to put into any thing and everything, if priced right (go through the for sale section and see what they have sold for) you shouldnt have any problems finding a buyer.

not much in it really, if the bottom end needs a rebuild the top end is only worth $1000 give/take.

Bottom end really isn't worth much at all in rebuild condition

I was thinking head, plenum, exhaust manifolds with standard turbo's, oil pump, water pump and coil packs, everything you would need to bolt it in.

Send engine to Paul(R racing or something) forged bottem end rebuild around 6k nisture your ecu for $220 + around $500 for tuning. Stock injectors and stock AFMs should be fine for your power level.

Find a set of r34 N1 turbos seen them go for 1k and if you can afford it nitto oil pump.

If you can remove and refit your own engine you will save a heap of $$$.

Be it myself I would change plan to -7s, get a good used motor, do a 100k service on it including a clutch, put it in and leave it at stock boost until I can afford to do more.

Admittedly that would require me accepting a final outcome of 300kw atw and no more, yet that would also overcome future overheads of the endless list of modifications needed to justify the use of -5s.

I would agree with -9s as Ash said however am of the opinion they warrant AFM's + Injectors when -7s can be utilised (almost) in full without. Thats a saving of ATLEAST $1500, based on experience.

Its the owners call, but a great deal more research is needed before any decisions are made.

You can also get -9s without upgrading AFM and injectors, just keep the boost level down.

In your case, get s/hand motor, get wreckers/seller to do compression motor if it is within 5-10psi of each cylinder go for it.

Last time I went to OH, it changed to panel beater now, was couple of weeks ago.

all i can find is 2nd hand motors for like 5k. id rather rebuild mind forged, bite the bullet and spend the extra and do it once and right.....

cbf getting another 2nd hand and then later on problems..... i think 13g will do it all....

    • Hi all, Bit of an odd question but the only OEM washer nozzles I can find readily available are listed as fitting the R33/R34 models. The R32 (shown below) has it's versions sold as a LH and RH piece while the R33/R34 nozzles are sold as a set (part number B8K30-AA000). Has anyone tried using these nozzles on their R32 Skyline hood? Do they fit without issues or with slight shaving, or are they completely incompatible? Visually they look almost exactly the same as the original factory nozzles I have now. They aren't expensive so I can eat the $30 or so that it would cost to try but I figured I'd ask in case someone had tried it already. Thanks!

The old gauge was definitely broken. /semi-pointless closure.
