I run a k&n panel in mine.. Feels like it can breathe ally better.. and also it's a one off purchase and then afterwards u can just clean them.. I found because they slightly oiled.. When u blow them out with the air gun most the crap comes out pretty easy and back to new again.. But thats my opinion.. Others could feel differently..

hence, K&N is not good for the VQ engine is what I've been hearing.

that's why I started this topic.

i'm currently in usa, temporarily. K&N filters cost around $40-$50 brand new but I am hesitant to purchase it for that reason.

The Trust Airinx GT are not available here, they can be shipped from JPN for around $85 USD after doing some ressearch.

so I just wanted opinions on what you guys know about them.

After a few read-throughs online, alot have different opinions.

Pros:

1. Good lifespan, if cleaned and oiled properly.

2. Allow the engine to breathe better then a standard paper filter (Oil is there to attract the dirt).

3. Small gain in power (Depends on the type of engine), if you also change the piping, throttle body, etc.

4. Save money in the long run.

Cons:

1. If not oil and clean properly, it will have bad effects on the engine.

2. Abit of work in cleaning it and re-using process.

So I am abit confussed now as well. :wacko:

Technically the oil is not bad for the engine it's more to do with our air flow meter.. As it's designed to read air and not oil..

But yes you do run a risk.. But what mod out there, is there that doesnt have side affects or carry risk.. No guts no glory.. Cant expect everything our way..

Im not a fan of the k&n anymore, i have never had an issue but heard too many stories of oiled up AFM to want to run one again. Id look at a dry type like the greddy. Can get the nismo, mines etc etc. but they are pretty much identical to the greddy in construction but 3 times the price. Greddy seems to be pretty good price wise these days. I have seen them on nengun for around $40+ shipping. So it would end up more around $60 direct from japan, with current exchange rates. Obviousley price will vary with exchange rate etc.

Bah, K&N filters are fine :rolleyes: . Don't over oil them (follow the instructions) and you'll be fine.

Been using a K&N without issue for more than a year in my NM35 Stagea now, VQ engine; AFM in exactly the same position.:thumbsup:

They flow stacks more air than a STD filter, and filter more effectively if oiled correctly.

Yeah, that would be the main issue for me.

As I've never used K&N panel filters before, I am not that confident to clean it myself yet. I will only install it "AFTER" I make sure my mechanics know about it. Hope it's not too hard or complicating. :P

So Dale, you don't get any AFM problem so far? Do you clean the filter yourself with ease?

So Dale, you don't get any AFM problem so far? Do you clean the filter yourself with ease?

Absolutely no issues. Takes about 10 min to clean using a Filtercharger kit, wait for it to dry, re oil, done.

not to too much of topic but before i sold the car i had a k&n typhoon complete cai system and it was wonderful, and i think it was worth the pretty penny that was spent on it, i dont know about power it gave though but it did make a good noise and just made the engine and car a bit more lively. and past about 4000 rpm it sounded very nice and if you tap the accel you could hear a little sucking sound very very similar to a turbo (had been mistaken a few times for one lol) but nothing to douchebaggy like a fake BOV on a NA

      Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny

      Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again

      Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.

      Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻

      Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
