Theres what the pump looks like with the belt still on.

Im gonna go ahead and agree that it cant be done. No way without taking the covers off anyway.

You'd be mad to be in there and not do a full timing belt kit.

All belts including the timing belt were replaced by the dealer at compliance before I purchased the car. Since I'm the first aus owner, it really doesn't need a new one with so few kms on it. But it sure looks like it has to be removed at any rate, thus for an extra $50 or whatever a new timing belt costs, I suppose I could get it replaced again, but it just feels like throwing $$ away really.

Actually looking at the picture, I'd cautiously guess it might still be possible to unbolt and slide out the pump with the timing belt still in place. Thus the only fiddly thing to get sorted again would be the electronic timing thing (?) that's bolted onto the outside of the cam cover.

CAS isnt to hard to get back to where it was. Just mark it really well before you take the timing cover off. Double check if your worried after thats done with timing light

I have a funny feeling that there is a dowel on the water pump so it may not just slide out

I'd replace the timing belt while its off. It just means you dont have to worry about it again for another 100,000km

the belt has to come off. which means, all drive belts, balancer, timing belt covers, and timing belt.. with the timing belt you need to make sure the marks on the crank and the marks on the cams line up with the aligning marks before removing the belt, you dont have to replace the belt if its near new, there should be a dowel on the block for the pump but its critical to make sure the block is clean and theres no gasket or glue remaining cause you want to ge a good seal when the new one goes on when putting the belt backk on you should put it on anti clockwise so that the tensioner has all the slack and when you release the tensioner it tightens the belt.. i would seriously recommend you get someone with knowledge to do it cause you dont want to mess the timing up as these are an interference engine and if the timing is out you could possibly say goodbye to your engine.

i did mine with the timing belt on - but i had to remove the tensioner and idler. i cable tied the belt at 2 spots to stop it from slipping - do that first. i only did that because my belt was in good nic.

    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
