I recently did my GTS-R back to factory (see sig for the link to the video, you can see the quality).

Just in trims, moulds, rubbers etc etc was over $2,000 from Nissan brand new.

I couldn't justify putting the 20-25yo trims/moulds/rubbers on a brilliant paint job when restoring a car

So as i said, totally depends on what you want. If you wanted to use the stuff you have now, you'd save such costs but then the body would look like new, yet the plastic/rubber would all be 10-15yrs old, weathered and that type of thing.

You might sand back a panel and find out it's been in some damage, needs repair and all of a sudden you get a $500 extra added on for instance.

I mean some places will just respray the car for $1500 - but don't expect it to be a brilliant job. You will certainly find things you are not happy with, over time the paint can fade/peale tc. But for $1500 you can't complain @ that price.

Only you can decide :)

I think he is refering to the window seal rubbers etc, and i'd dare say for a decent spray job your looking at least $5,000 +

do you want a closed door respray (one where when you open the door the inside of the doors is a different colour to the outside of the car) or a proper job where inside the doors, boot, bonnet, etc are all done too? this will determine the price. also depends on whether you want it painted with 2-pack or basic acrylic. this will determine how much of a shine the paint has as well as how resistant it is to chipping, etc.

well ive got these hard plastic door trim that things say skyline on both doors and there quite large so if i decided to go black, being my car is already a dark blue you wouldnt notice the difference to much, i think it wouldnt look to bad seeing as the paint you dont see when you look at my car is the best looking paint on the car, haha.

and it would suit the style of the interior.

    • Ha ha ha, that's fair mate! We have the crackhead dogs now. Mainly because the missus wants the crazy dogs while she still has the energy and capacity to be able to keep up with them! Ha ha our current two are both Working GSD, there brothers and sisters (from the same litters) are in Police, Corrective Services, and I believe one did end up in defence force too. They're wild and fun, yet right now, both curled up asleep on the lounge room floor while we watch some TV. Mal is very likely the next dog (unless I get my couch potato guardian dog 😛 )   What are your Kitties names? Are you planning some house work, like those high kitty shelves, built in scratching post, and some cat passages from one room to another room?
    • Maine Coone, did look at but to big and fluffy As for performance dogs, we had Mals at work, performance dogs are fun to watch, but, way to much work for this old rooster
    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
