Hi guys and gals,

I'm getting a strange noise from the gtr recently. It's developed over the last 6 months. It sounds almost like a solenoid clicking just once like a tick. It's coming from the front right of the car it happens whenever there is weight transition to the front. I've noticed it going over speed humps, coming in and out of my driveway (steep) also from things like if I'm driving down the freeway and the road surface dips. Also if im turning left and right. It only happens everynow and then ... well that I can hear anyway.

It's not something that a mechanic could really diagnose atleast without spending hours and hours looking for whats the cause. I was wondering if anyone here has experienced the same thing. I was thinking it could be a shock maybe. I have nismo s tunes that came with the car so I don't know how old they are.

Then you should check your wiring make sure something isn't being triggered. It could be your alarm, my shitty alarm makes all these clicking noises. It comes from the shock sensor. Only happens when the car is off so maybe if it is your alarm, its failing?

I too would have initially suspected CV joints. My rears make a clicking noise when engaging gear and going over bumps n shit.

Hmmmmm

Best idea would be to borrow a friend to sit in the car and turn it so it makes the noise. While you look around the front and underneath etc trying to pin-point the noise.

Will make it alot easier to diagnose if you can see where its coming from.

My GTSt made a clunking type noise that turned out to be sway bar bushes but I dont think it would be that.

Noises are disgusting to diagnose, seriously. I just eliminated most of the noises from my car(most of them just being shit laying around/rolling around in the cabin) but now Ive got a f**king irritating sound coming from the passenger side. It sounds like a rubber/plastic and occurs over minor and major bumps and shit on the road. Mum was like just turn the music on, every car makes a noise just dont listen to it. That is true but when I know its there, I want it gone!

Might have to check out my swaybar bushes and links.

How loud is the noise? If its just a soft click i wouldnt even worry about it. If its a louder clunk then it could be upper arms worn. I had a clunk when turning left only on bumps, turned out to be my upper arms worn out.

Noises are really hard to diagnos, only this you can do is get under the car with a pry bar and check for movement in the bushes and joints, being a r32 most of the stuff is prob worn out by now, by the time a car gets to 20 years old all the bushes need doing really, I have an exploded rear subframe bush, was wondering wtf the sticky stuff was and then i found out there silicone filled pinch.gif .

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
