ops my bad lol ok so price below

head unit $340 http://www.ebay.com....=item1c1b7109e5

Double din $350 http://cgi.ebay.com....em=330478741615

install was around $200

That is cheap as. Do you still get to keep the trip computer eg petrol usage etc??

Also how long did it take them to install?

Yep i keep all the stock gear, how it works is the head unit is pluged into the RCA input in the cars TV tuner, it does not work for TV but it does display the output from the head unit like an AV input for a VCR. There is a option on the TV section of the OEM screen called VTR or somthing like that it sets it to AV in short. It took the guys at NPS about 2 hrs to install it all i was lucky 1 of there guys had worked on the car b4 so he knew how to take it apart.

These same guys did a job for a forum member a few months ago. He bought a TV tuner from me & they had no idea what was going on. I had to call them a couple of times to help sort it out.

I think that was where they learnt to take the car apart ! They had the other V35 for a couple of days :ermm: . Glad to hear it was much easier for you  .

hahaha yeh lucky me then lol. But the install is great works well, there was an issue with the face plate of the head unit it gets stuck on the double din kit when it opens i have to help it open but that is ezy fixed just need to shave a bit of plastic off the double din kit. other then that its 100%

Mine is not a prem edition it does not come with dual zone, its just reg 350GT cloth seats, if you want duel zone climat you will need to get the approprate buttons with the face plate. The circut board for the buttons is attached to the OEM head unit one so the din kit comes with new buttons just look on ebays for the duel zone ones or you can get it from the link below but its a bit more pricy.

That is awesome!

How do you find the quality of the new head unit? (compared to say, an Alpine)

Quality is great, i only have stock speakers no sub or amps so its as good as can be expected, the GPS works well have no complaints about it at all, im considering changing out my speakers and adding a sub but im not sure if its worth it tbh

The only thing that i can see that needs to be fixed its the face plate that i bought i need to shave some plastic off the bottom so the head unit can open without me lifting it a few mill up as it catches on it but other then that its 100% and you can shave it down with a file the guys at NPS have a tool to do it also but didnt have it on the day.

Nice,

How many Pre-outs does the head unit have?

My car (I haven't actually seen it yet) has a double din Carrozzeria unit in it and I was thinking I might swap it out for one of these when it gets here; especially if it has 3 sets of pre-outs (like my current Alpine CDA-9886 + Imprint has)

I've found in most of my previous cars that sound deadening is the best upgrade you can make to your cars sound system. Basically more sound waves stay inside the cabin of your car;

Obviously won't help if your stock speakers are knackered

Yeh i bought my own kit as i didnt want to pay $500 for one as you can get them for around $330 on ebay. Im not worried about the xtrons it has been great so far, i saved $1700 so even if it does not las as long still a huge saving.

yes I do sell them JDM OR metra. prefer to use the JDM ones for proper fit though some see these as expensive so I do the metra one as an alternative. need to know more about your car though.

hey chris

i think my chasis number is: CPV35505901

looked around ebay and i may be colour blind but i'm not too sure if my trim colour is tan or silver.

any way of finding out from the chasis number?

i might just get the JDM dash since i'm looking at keeping the nav screen. how should i get in contact with you for pricing?

    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
