Aggravated robbery at Hawker shops

Release Date: Wednesday, June 08 2011, 09:50 AM

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery in which a car was stolen at Hawker shops last night (Tuesday, June 7).

About 11.40pm two men parked in Hawker Place—behind a white Holden Commodore—to use an automatic teller machine. There were three men standing outside the Commodore and a woman in the driver’s seat.

The owner of the car returned to his vehicle when he saw one of the men standing near his car, which had the keys in the ignition and engine running. An altercation occurred between the victim and male offender and the victim was punched in the face. The offender then got into the victim’s vehicle, a white Nissan Skyline and drove off onto Springvale Drive towards Coulter Drive.

The first offender is described as male, wearing a white jumper and blue Adidas tracksuit pants with white stripes.

The second offender is described as male, with blond hair, pale skin and wearing a black jumper with green tracksuit pants.

The third offender is described as male, chubby with a kiwi accent, wearing a grey hooded jumper and jeans.

The female driver of the Commodore had dark-coloured hair.

Anyone who may be able to assist police with the investigation are asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

why no car details? you think they would say an 88 or r33 or GTR or something to make it stand out. hopefully its just a bashed up R31, cos i know i wouldnt be walking away from anything else at midnight in hawker with the keys in the ignition.....

why would leave the keys in the ignition with the car running at that time when your leaving to go to an ATM that was just an invitation to the low life's, poor owner would of been good if he had of got the other guy

It says 2 guys so maybe he left his mate in the car while he went to the ATM? Surely you wouldn't both get out and leave it running when you've parked behind a Commodore with 3 guys loitering next to it.

all seems a bit silly to me. leaving the car running... his passenger just getting out to let them take it.. and it seems no one got the plates for the commodore either.

Yeah, I wouldn't have stopped there. Go to another ATM! I often stop off late at night to chuck things in a post box.... occasionly there's someone there using the public phones(which I figure is weird enough in itself at 12.30am)... so I just don't stop. I go to another post box. Who knows if they're some junkie?? The shops are completely deserted so I'm not gonna risk it.

Wow, someone using forethought in Canberra :P.

*edit* removed a sentence after receiving a knock on the door from a cop :P.

It was a R34. My mate finished work at kfc and we were just chilling out in the car park when this happened, we thought that they are racing as they took off very quick but few minutes later when the cops turned up and asked questions to us then we knew the whole story. And unfortunately we couldn't do anything :(

i hope he gets his car back soon

    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
    • Perhaps the answer is... more jacks!* *proper jacks must be used.
    • I NEVER think about using a scissor jack unless there is absolutely no other alternative. f**king things are dangerous, annoying and stupid.
