hey guys as your probably remember few months back i got a yellow on my vlrb25det

well here is the update

vehicle went for first inspection and a few minor things were picked up however i was still asked to fill out and send off a application to modify vehicle and given a 30day extension. car went over pits again yesterday and all minor things passed. i just have to wait to hear back from dpi for my approval. vehicle was extended 2 months at this stage due to it can take up to 3 months for dpi to approve changes.

just thought i would keep you all informed as many people keep asking me for updates.

the moral to this story if your going to do a engine conversion just remember to to do it properly or you will get stung

Lucky you, a couple of years ago while I was waiting for my permits I had to pay for about 3 different inspections (that all passed, but had to wait for permits) that gave me 3 weeks maximum. Took about 4 months before I got approved

Yeh, when I had to go over the pits they wouldn't give me that extension. I had to get an accelerator pedal from Nissan which was going to take 4 weeks. I had to pay for the initial inspection (failed), then they said they could only give me a 2 week extension because the original sticker was for 3 weeks, so waited the 2 weeks then had to go back for another inspection (failed), this time they would only give me 1 more week, so waited that week, then had to go back for another inspection to get another week long extension, then the pedal arrived so I had to go back for a final inspection.

Only thing they wouldn't pass me on was my metal accelerator pedal. Yet I had to keep going back knowing my car was going to fail. They made a lot of money out of me :glare: Sounds like they've sorted that bullshit out.

uh, you should have just filled in an engine change form, u went from a 3ltr to a 2.5ltr. turbo etc who cares.

took me 3-4months to go thru pits when im240 was still in place i just kept putting stock pieces on eventually got a top bloke who just changed my engine number over and took sticker off -for my 25det conversion not my 30det

    • @GTSBoy This method was able to get readings of -10 to -2, so it looks like its monitoring.  Now I need to figure out why the vacuum on the line provided isn't alternating with manifold pressure.  I went with 2 lines that an RB25 tuner recommended but I'll get a longer hose and try directly off the back of the manifold.  He may have been used to OEM intake setups while I have a DBW setup that removed the MAF and IACV.
    • I work at a car detailing and tinting shop called Quark which gets all manner of German cars in usually (mainly due to a contract with Mercedes Benz Kita Osaka, BMW Nishinomiya and others) but every once in a while something special comes in, like a fully restored 1972 HS30 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG... The shop owner had immediately started applying film to the windows as soon as it was in the shop so the interior was completely covered in towels and plastic sheets. But I could get a few photos of the engine bay which was restored like new. Such an amazing car to see in pristine condition in Japan these days.
    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
