Hey all!

Time for a Putty Rd cruise!

For those that havnt been before, its a nice social cruise and the pub at the end has steaks and beers. What more could you want?!

For those that have been before, you'll know how nice the road is and how damn refreshing the beers are at the end

Date: Sunday the 31st july, 2011 (yes the 7th day for all you 31 owners out there)

Meet location: Percival St carpark, Clarendon. (Map below)

Meet time: 10am for a 1030am SHARP departure

Destination: IMPERIAL HOTEL, 183-185 John Street, Singleton, TURN RIGHT JUST AFTER HUNTER STREET FOR THE REAR CAR PARK.

Route: Putty road!!!

Maps: here is a map showing the meet points. If you are having trouble finding the meeting point, you can Google map search "Percival St Clarendon" and it will take you straight to the meet point

http://maps.google.com.au/maps?saddr=Percival+Street,+Richmond,+New+South+Wales&daddr=-33.1095589,150.6956194+to:John+St&hl=en&ll=-32.566997,151.164536&spn=0.028319,0.038581&sll=-32.563059,151.169166&sspn=0.00354,0.004823&geocode=Ffdc__0dOtj8CCnjqo_Tu2INazGqZET3KviulQ%3BFcrJBv4dw277CClZX94bYA8NazHhWz50tAkGEw%3BFf0hD_4dqaoCCQ&mra=dme&mrsp=2&sz=18&via=1&t=h&z=15

Important things to note;

1. Bring a full tank of petrol to the start point, there are no petrol stations/stops until Singleton.

2. Only place for 98 Octane fuel in Singleton is BP 53 George St, Singleton. They're open on Sundays.

3. This will go ahead if raining, although if hail is forecast check this thread on the day to check (just incase) if its been called off. We will make this call the night before

4. This is not a speed event, its a cruise. Want to speed? Go to a trackday instead!

Cheers guys

Jeff

Let me know numbers. I'm good mates with the new publican at the imperial hotel so will be able to help out with a few things as I know there was a problem last cruise with the amount of people that turned up. Will even be able to book out the beer garden area for us if yous like but don't wanna stuff him around if we get noone turn up which is looking possible with the current response on here lol. P.s. I'm in but will probably meet yous halfway between here and Sydney and drive back with yous.

I am also in. May even go one better than livewire and nip down the full length of Putty road so I can cruise back up with you guys. I missed the last one due to gearbox troubles.

The stuff up with the pub last time was not enough staff to handle the amount of people that turned up on the day.

To make it a success, we need a better idea of the numbers attending in advance. I'd hate for all you siders-siders to complain again about another country pub that couldn't meet your expectations.

Livewire, are we rostered off the day of the cruise or is it gunna be a "sick day"?

I just checked and you are off but looks like I'll have to take annual leave cause I'm on c crew now. Hopefully not comin off nightshift or will have to take sat and sun off. Doesn't look like too many people are keen though. It's only 4 weeks away. Ah dammit, that means I'll be on nightshift. You get paid as if at work for annual leave don't you? I'm not makin the mistake of takin a sickie on a sat or sun night lol.

Well if its on the 31st july, then i am on day shift and YOU are on nightshift. Youll need to take sat and sun night off to attend the event!

ALL annual leave is paid as if at work OR you could work till 12pm/am, go home sick and still get paid for the whole shift as if it work (trust me, i did this one the other day).

Not to worry if no one attends... atleast the pub of choice will be able to handle the load! (unlike the Albion) But, the last cruise, people didn't really show a whole heap of interest on here. It was the number of people that turned up on the day that blew the attendance numbers up.

Ah that's right, you're on A crew, thought you were D crew. Well yeah, your dayshift then which isn't so bad. Haha, don't think option B would be a good idea during probation lol. Well hopefully people speak up and get keen son then so I can give the publican notice. Last turnout was decent judging by the pics and review.

Ok well my s14 is ready to go now, had to sit the last Sydney cruise out cause the shocks were gone and it was getting a tune but I'm defiantly gonna be ready for this one

Hope I'm not the only S chassis turning up

Just a quick clarification because the first post is a little contradictory.

This cruise is not an official SAU:NSW cruise organised via the club and with CAMS insurance, but rather a privately organised cruise.

The official SAU:NSW cruise will be on later in the year, in the meantime our next official cruise is late July, a thread will be posted in the next few days

Have a good day out :D

The drive looks really long lol, I need an honest answer, do you guys suffer fatigue or get 'sick' of driving that long on these roads? Ill be keen on this one. Hopefully a full tank can make that trip and I can only attend if I fix my brakes...

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
