hi all.

looking at a set of cams for a 34gtr motor.

they are HKS 256degree 8.7mm lift.

ive had a quick look but cant find if these are a streetable cam or more track.

they are able to go in with no mods to head,

i understand it all depense what they are paired up with in the car,

cheers

I think these cams are the smallest duration that HKS do as an upgrade.

They'd be a pretty good street cam IMO.

the duration is longer than stock and the lift is better than stock.

from my understanding the longer the duration the later the power will come on, so a 272 degree cam with same lift will come on much later and have some overlap at idle giving it a lumpy idle.

i think 8.7mm lift shouldn't be a worry for the std springs,

is there any reason why you're upgrading cams? are the stockers limiting power?

i've got a stock head and std cams and am pushing 370rwkw so the std ones are definitely good for that level, and idle and response is the best its going to be.

I agree. Why are you looking at cam upgrade. You can get over 400kw at wheels out of std engine before looking at cams.

If you are going to expense of building tough engine from bottom up then small cams waste of time. I jumped straight to

272 10.2 with first engine then 290 11.7 with next. if you are modifying you cant mess around.

Stick with turbos, fuel, etc and leave the cams till you go for it............ I ran 11.10 @127 back in 2002 on the STD engine

with bolt on 2540s and bigger injectors.

Depends what you want but make sure all parts match. 34 engine will make great power with bolt ons.

How fast do you really want to go?

Im after a legit street spec engine. I would say 300 or so at all four wpuld b nice. So say 340rears.

Will i gain much with cams, cam wheels etc? Or is the gain just small b4 the 400 mark?

Lag is an apsolute no no

I was thinking

Stock turbos with upped boost

Fuel pump

Inj

Power fc

Cams

Good turbo back zorst

No need to do intakes as i want it clean...

Dont really need much more power Wise...??

Coolere legit, stock turbos are fine for low to mid range with a decent strenght to hold a bit of pressure

leave the stock cams but get adjustable cam gears and replace the stock turbos with N1's (-7s) or -9s, the standard ones wont last at (and probably wont even make) that power.

also there wont be much if any difference between RWKW and AWKW, certainly not that much at that level

If ur talking standard r34 turbos I've seen them make 294rwkw, but were soon swapped out for 2530's so don't know exactly how long they'd last, but they won't last long at all, best turbo for 350awkw in my eyes would be 2530's. They work real nice with great response for that power on a standard 2.6l Motor

Yep 2530s are the go. Years ago I went to 2540s and they KILLED the respose and bottom end.

I've got -10s now on my 3.2L and they haul ass from right down low but would be a bit lagggy on 2.6L

For 350rwkw you should not need to touch the cams or internals at all. Agree on cam gears though.

Back in the day we went as high as 396rwkw using the std cams and std internals (of course at that power

the std internals did not last long!!!)

Yeah ok, is the 2530 a direct bolt up, and r there diff models? I no that my 2535 ive gpt on stag was a 56t or sumthing??

Has any one got results from

Power fc

Cam gears

Fuel pump

550cc ??? Inj

Airbox seems more than enough and looks nice

Then with 2530s?

Whats the point behind the hard piping cooler kits n

So on? Replacment or a mod!?:s

Excuse my lack of gtr knowledge :)

Also do 040s fit in easy? Didnt like the looks of the nismo pump at 600 on ebay lol..!

The hard pipe kit is a good upgrade over the plastic (shitty) pipes when running above stock boost.

But seriously, speak to Willall (club sponsor) who has done all the homework on these things already and has taken all the guess work out of it.

Martin will be able to point you in the right direction quickly as to what to do.....and more importantly, what not to do.

Do it once...do it right...and save a packet in the long run.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
