Hi,

Just wondering if anybody would have an old rooted afm, I need the mesh for mine - or if anybody knows where I can get some mesh of the same dimension wire etc as on the stock AFM???? cheers

also, I need to upgrade my springs, as the ones I have just dont like it when I start pushing. I am chasing around 4kg (rear) and 7 kg (front) springs to try - see if they are ok or if I need to go harder still. I have ohlins coilovers, not 100% but I think they are 60mm ID? (I will measure tonight).

I dont mind paying for them, but I dont want to fork out $400 for a set of springs to discover they are crap.

If anyone has any of the above, or know where I can source them, PLEASE let me know:)

thanks

Steve

The concept of promoting laminar flow through a wire mesh 0.3mm thick is an interesting one. Maybe though the improved idle has more to do with the wire screen reducing the cross sectional area of the afm by around 5%. Even better though, would be to tune a decent idle into it :D

Maxx, yeah, I want to try a few combos and see what I like best. A few guys that I know that track their cars have recommended 4 and 7 - so I thought I would start there. But having been in cars with 8 + 10, and 10+12, I tend to agree with you BUT they werent skylines.

What are these worse outcomes you speak of?

I hear what you are saying Martin, but no body has been able to get a decent idle, it would always idle ok for a while then do its own thing - the mesh works. I was also under the impression that power fc is supposed to 'self learn' the idle.

That is what appears to have happened, the idle just got better and better every time I pulled up at a set of lights.

umm well like i said b4 about the handling after the wheel allignemnt, then once thats fixed, im gonna just play with the damper, to see if i can get a better ride, and handling, basically the rear end is too tail happy and i dont have confidence in punting the car hard around high speed sweeping corners.

also the car feels slow thru tighter bends?

do u feel that skylines are hard to get good speed thru tighter turns?

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
