Hi Guys,

R33 GTST S2 w/ A-LSD

Full exhaust (High Flow 100 cell Cat was installed 2 days before the problem first appeared)

R34 SMIC (Installed last weekend)

Last week (Thursday) I went and got petrol at the servo and when I turned my car back on, the HICAS Light was on and the steering was very heavy (still drivable though).

I turned the car off, waited 10 seconds and turned it back on,

Light was still on, Steering still heavy.

I drove it home (2km) then turned it off, waited 30 seconds. Still bad.

I went inside and got my Consult Cable / ECUTalk Display and went back outside to plug it in 30 minutes later.

When I started it up it was working perfectally again, No Light, Power Steering working.

ECUTalk displayed No Fault codes on this or previous starts.

All was fine for a week, did 350km on it and then last night went to get Petrol.

Same Servo, after the same 40 minutes of peakhour.

Filled up my tank with another 45L of V-Power and started it up. Once again, Hicas Light on and no Power Steering. No Fault Codes.

Drove it home and just before I turned into my driveway (2km) it magically fixed itself and the Hicas light went off and power steering returned.

Random Questions:

Any ideas what I should check or what might be causing this?

Is Fuel in any way related to HICAS?

Is HICAS in any way related to Power Steering?

Maybe a sudden temperature difference when I add in 45L of cold fuel to the warm car?

Anyone else had this issue?

Heading up to DECA in 3 weeks but don't want to be trashing around a car with HICAS or Steering issues, obviously.

Thoughts?

Cheers,

Simon

Hmmmmmm....

I've been reading through all the other Hicas related threads on here and a lot of them seem to have this problem.

There were mentions of bad battery earth (mine does need replacing badly, I had to remove it a few months ago for a little bit to get a new battery in, and ever since then my stereo has a bad earth whine to it...)

I will try HICAS Diagnostics as well and report back.

Otherwise, looks like it might be time for a lock bar :P

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
    • Yes sir am asking is there possible way from aem tuner from wiring pins
    • Have you checked cam to crank timing and confirmed balancer marks are correct?
