Thanks :P to all the Japan Forum regulars (you know who you are) who come in here and dispense with all their advice and experience... cheers guys. Just lately the Japan forum seems to have more experienced members than guys who want to find out stuff! It's all good though.

I'm just wondering, is there anything that we can do to make the Japan forum better? Any requests, ideas etc?

I for one try to reply to EVERY tread in here, I hate seeing a thread go unanswered...

I think that the forum is pretty good as it is!

Would be good to have some links for the People interested in going to Japan or other stuff associated with Japan.

Here is some :

www.****edgaijin.com - ( "Edit" dam censor, well that 4 letter word where the stars are begins with f) Interesting Forum made by people in Japan or interested in Japan

www.gaijinpot.com - Information Page with almost EVERY question about everything Japanese - From finding a dentist to organising VISAs.

www.isize.com/carsensor - Contains car for sales, but also a lot of information about each vehcile. BUT IS IN JAPANESE if you dont have windows xp then....

www.njstar.com - A program that lets ur computer read Japanese, Chinese and Korean charcaters works on most Operating Systems i think.

There is heaps more but that is some of the top of my head that I find useful/interesting.

Right, thanks Genkisouzoku, I'm gonna make that sticky... if anyone else has any links (I know, I know, I could prolly do it all myself! But it's a group effort right?) they could submit, please post 'em up, and we'll make a super link thread... or something like that. Is that cool?

Another question... where are the New Zealanders??? We got Aussies, Brits, Yanks and even a Canadian, but no New Zealanders...

I see that there are quite a few Aussies over at Skylines Downunder (NZ site), but not the other way around... mmmmmmm.

IN JAPANESE has some Jap "babes" on it

http://www.japanhomesearch.com/TravelExper...ert/TE_main.asp - This page owns for travellers! Its a transport journey planer! Even tells you how much it costs and the time it takes. Make sure you spell the name of the city right, as you don't wanna end up at the other end of japan. PLUS ITS IN ENGLISH!

http://korya40.hp.infoseek.co.jp/top_english.htm - Guest houses in Japan, In the tokyo-ish region. Never stayed there myself so cant vouch for them, but may be handy if you wanna give them a go!?

There's worse out there. A lot of people have split personality disorder when it comes to living in japan (others actually do really hate it). My opinion is that the happiest people are (1) those who have a ultra-super-geek fascination for japan, (2) those who speak japanese well AND understand/accept the culture, (3) those who come with a partner and (4) those who find a steady one here.

http://www.kakaku.com/ - Japanese price guide site. Very accurate and matches street prices found in places like Akihabara.

http://www.jnto.go.jp/eng/GA/ - Japanese tourism website in english. Official government one. Awesome info here.

http://www.japanrailpass.net/eng/en01.shtml - Official site for the JR pass.

http://grace.hyperdia.com/cgi-english/hyperd01.cgi - Japan Rail timetables and route planner. Very good way to plan trips around the country. All in english too.

As someone who can't read, write or speak Japanese, but has a distinct fondness for the country (having visited it a number of times), I really like the Japan forum: its nice just to keep in touch with what is going on. Most of all I really enjoy the conversations about living in Japan as an "outsider".

Anyway, my one useful link is the Bablefish (Japanese --> English) translator. Not only does it help me when I want to read Japanese sites, but its also a constant source of amusements (use it, and you will know why) :P

Just remember that Babelfish translates Japanese names (surnames in particular) literally... so you might get "Toshimasa little rice field riverside", or something like that... :P

Yes, hence my comment about it being a source of amusement ;) My personal favourite is how "Silvia" becomes "Sil beer" -- must be a fine brew :)

      The speedo's can be very conservative, when my Mazda NC MX5 speedo is showing 118kph, the GPS, and a calibrated radar.... cop mate.....hits me at around 110kph +/- 1 or 2 kph, and that is on a 215/45 17, stock tyres size is 205/45 17 as well, so weirdly conservative with stock tyre size When my Commodore speedo red 116kph GPS had me at 110kph After doing some offset and clearance measurements to see what can fit the NC on 17x8 +40, without guard rolling or rubbing anything at my current ride height, I've decided that when my tyres are toast, I'm going to fit 225/45 17 and see where that gets me IRT actual speed of my speedo and GPS/radar From the online calculator I should be still be doing around 5kph under an actual 110kph when the speedo is showing 110kph My ADHD requires that when I'm doing 110kph on the speedo, that the actual road speed is actually really close to that, and not alot slower And going from 205 to 225 still keeps the car within the %/mm allowable in the NSW vehicle rules and regulations, which is nice, as long as I'm looking at the latest version that is.....LOL https://www.nsw.gov.au/sites/default/files/2021-02/RMS-13.464-Light-vehicle-modifications-Vehicle-Standards-Information-No-6-November-2013.pdf

      Take the value it measured as, and pick the closest range available that is above the reading on the screen.   Also, no point just testing the coils. Read what has been said again. You need to test all your wiring, everything.

      @666DAN sorry to bring you and old thread.     I've got my de+t done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.    Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd when selected . But nothing when in  drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic. I'm sure there is maybe 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Do ya have any ideas?     Cheers man

      Well I recently changed my rear axles and was thinking if I bumped anything, I have been driving the car for a while now though... But it has been raining today so everything is wet under the wheel arches. Brakes feel fine and can't hear any of the metal screamers, I had a squeak coming from one of the handbrake drums but that seems to have gone away a while ago. I was going down a hill when it lit up and I did feel the abs bite for a second and question why it did it?
