Some have reported good results some havn't.

:D

I've decided to do the mod again since I am running a bit more boost up in the higher rpm's due to my bodgy wastegate mod that reduces the wastegate travel. I'll let you all know if it makes boost in the higher rpms as previously the way the wastegate was setup it would hold boost perfectly.

Theoretically it should creep boost the higher the rpm's go IF the re-circ leak was causing some boost drop. This is only the case with the way I have setup my wastegate hence reduced travel so boost is forced to be made.

I recessed the hole a little so the top of the screw would sit flat. As not to accidentally lift the bov on one side hence leaking out the side of the gasket.

The screw I used was a good ol' short stubby computer case fan screw.

While I was there I checked the piping to see how coated with oil it was.

Suprisingly after 160,000km's (90,000km's of hard 1bar+ boosting, currently 1.1bar 16-17psi) its all pretty clean. Slight bit of oil on the bov its self however the piping is rahter clean. Well compared to 95% of the other R32's I have seen.

I have noticed the following since the mod:

1. Boost is definately much much quieter. Similiar to a car that has a stock airbox.

2. Appears to feel like it has a little more guts down low.

3. Boost appears to be a little lethargic when first starting to make boost - this could be due to not hearing the psssssshhhh as boost comes up.

4. This mod only appears to be of benifit when running 15+ psi.

5. Boost does creep up like I thought.

6. Constantly hits boost cut now :) Time to fiddle again.

7. Changing from first to second when accelerating moderately some times is a little rough.

Think thats it.....

How are the aftermarket re-circ bov's setup? Do they have this recirc bleed type hole?

I don't think they have Joel, well the TurboSmart one that a mate has got hasn't.

I've always wondered if a aftermarket plumb back would give the same feeling as this BOV mod does....

It definately does hold boost easier up top now.

I've had to back the boost off so it doesn't boost cut.

I didn't notice any difference at the lower boost levels though (13psi @7000rpm) as it would hold 13psi at 7000rpm easily anyway.

The problem began when I started to try and hold 1bar+ up to 7000rpm.

As I said previously I elongated the wastegate holes in order to reduce the travel of the wastegate hence forcing it to hold boost. So obviously there is a little to be had by stopping the constant re-circ with the stock bov.

Yer the RB20t wastegate is a tougher wastegate (stronger spring).

When I had the VG30BB wastegate on it she would drop boost to around 9-10psi like yours.

The RB20T stocker wastegate with exhaust is 10.9psi. Well mine is anyway. :)

    • Ok thanks..that was my second question if i can somehow bypass this even with Nistune(that is all i have right now...aparat from stock ECU. So with some aftemarket it can by "bypassed" or make it work?  I know there is Link or Haltech (mainly used). We have ECUmaster here so i will gather some info about it.
    • Yes. You will need to get the original boost sensor and wire it in. That is.... if you plan to use a stock ECU - even a Nistuned ECU. The Nissan ECU will not operate correctly without it connected. And yes, it will do annoying stuff like you are experiencing. You will almost certainly be better off with some aftermarket ECU, than trying to hunt down rare sensors.
    • Ok so ABS/TCS is "not" the problem. Yeah i know now about the ABS with Nistune(i told that to the Nistune guy) but iam not 100% why or why i dont have ABS. ABS cube is in the engine (always has been) but i had braked couple of times rly hard and brakes just locked and scream. Does all Skylines have ABS cube? That boost sensor https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/367633-wtb-r34-gtt-turbo-pressure-sensor-pics-inside/ Is this it? I need to ask but i have a picture of engine bay and i do not see that (100% is not in that place) If i do not have this the car can do what mine is?(cutting around 4000 rpm) Here is the pic of my engine bay(only one i have) BUT i think i dont have that cuz loom was used from my RB20DE NEO and i know (obviously) that it does not have boost control or any wire to that...) so maybe that is the problem? (i dont know for 100% if that car where the engine is from had that)...but i dont have the loom from that
    • I'm with you here. It's either loom has an issue, OR, injectors are not functioning properly. It could even be they're just constantly dribbling, hence the wet, but not firing.
    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
