G'Day,

Thought it was high time I pulled my finger out and dropped you all intro. :wavey:

My name is Jason O'Halloran (Racin Jason - the alter ego) and as most of you already know I'm the ANDRA Sport Compact Director.

Man where do I start,....nah stuff it you guys know all the good news/ bad news so far.

What a start to the official Sport Compact scene here in Australia!!

I would like to publically thank everyone who came and made all the Sport Compact events that have been held in the last 2 months so successful.

This is just the begining.....so the crowds were GOOD. The turnout of cars was GREAT. And the best bit is we have so much to look forward too. I take my hat off to you all, for with out the Tracks, the racers, the forums, the magazines, and the decent attitudes of people like NSW Premier Bob Carr - Sport Compact drag racing would be a pipe dream.

Kind of ironic the main politician behind the development of WSID has a name like Carr - maybe we can get him into a turbo RX-3 and pack him a change of jocks too!!!

OK so where now? We are currently revising the ANDRA Sport Compact rules, with the veiw to OZing them up a bit. They are suited more to the NHRA (USA) vehicles, and our vehicle demorgraphic is vastly different to our mates across the pond.

I see great development in the 'street tyre' classes, and the development of a seperate Sport AWD/4WD is definately on the drawing board. Minimum weights are also being checked, as they favour larger vehicles. They will now doubt be revised to suit the smaller/ older vehicles that Australia is renown for, ie RX3/ Datto 1200 etc.

Oh and we have a new logo about to be released as well!! It's the mutt's nuts to say the least - simple, techno, and very cool. More on that very soon!

Finally, I will try to check this site for any questions you may have, so feel free to ask away. If you want to go further, try the ANDRA website for more details....hell give me a buzz if you're really stuck.

I must say I love Sport Compact racing....not because I'm employed by ANDRA, but because I'm just a regular NOS sniffing, hi-flow spooling boost junkie like the rest of you. I know I'm going to make some enemies from the decisions I make, but they are all done in the best interests of the Sport.

Shit, if I make as many friends as I do enemies then life will be fine. So drop me a line.....after all I'm just speed lovin, nut bar like the rest of you.

Cheers for now

Just checked the website, specifically the ANDRA Affiliated Clubs section.

I've noticed that neither Sandown nor Calder are listed on your list of Drag tracks.

Now my two main questions are these:

Can we become an affiliate club, what do we have to do, what are the benefits and what are the costs?

And do you plan on including the above mentioned two raceways into your list of associated tracks, as the VIC chapter of SAU is very much interested in getting into the 1/4 mile drag scene (seeing as we now have a 617rwkw R33 GTR). We have members who are itching to do quarter mile drags but due to CAMS and costs of venue hire we're finding it extremely hard. Can you advice on anything we can do to make this reality?

Cheers,

Shan Moorthy

Oh and here's a mugshot of Mr O'Halloran in case someone bumps into him on the street :D

lol...

any chance of reducing the size of that foto dude?

Not having ANDRA sanctioned events in those states sucks some serious type of arse. Come on, how long before they/you get your acts together?

Adrian

its a direct link off the andra website... i say fire your webdesigner (n hire me :D). I didn't think it'd be that large... yikes...

well I was trying to be more polite than that but yeah, how long till we get some ANDRA action?

lol well we need some sort of regulation, and besides the guys unning 10's do it in their own time. I was more concerned with getting the members more access to 1/4 drag comps etc.

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
