Hi All,

Well let me make a short story long...

I have an ARX with the integrated stereo (non Bose), my CD player is Effed - has the F0 error.

I have a couple of questions as it is pissing me off and I want to fix it.

1. I think it maybe simply that the CD's are jammed as it was disconnected a while ago and moved around with CD's still inside, didn't work straight after, hence they may have become dislodged from the trays and jammed the mechanism.

So, is it possible to remove the player, take apart the player and remove the offending discs, then reassemble to have a working player again. This of course assumes that nothing is damaged.....

My concern is that I have seen photos of some for sale on Import Monster and they dont look like they are that easy to disassemble ??

Can it be done?

2. This brings me to my second option - purchase a replacement on IM. I have been watching but they are few and far between. I saw one, but it seems like it comes as a complete package including the plastic mouldings/dash. The one I saw had different coloured plastic (grey as opposed to black). Can the hardware be removed from the plastic and simply replace the stereo only, or is it all one integrated unit?

Any feedback would be great as i don't want to A) buy one with wrong colour plastic, or B) spend 6 hours removing the dash to then find out that the offending CD's are as accessable as the Queen's left nipple.

Cheers

The stereo can be removed from the plastic trim and swaped for a different colour. If you take the stereo out just be careful with the ribon connector that connects to the front panel.

If you take the lid off the cd player you should be able to get them out. I have removed some cds in a bose model.

The cd player will cost to much to repair. Your better off getting the cds out and going afermarket dash.

Hi all,

Cheers for the responses.

So I reckon thne besty option is to remove it and try and "take the lid off"and remove the offending discs. BTW it's quite a varied mix from Sepultra Roots, to Prodigy to Alice and Chains Jar of Flies and even Beyonce which is my Mrs' CD of cousre :whistling:

Then if the player is still rooted I will look into getting an after market + dash. Where can I get these fandangled aftermarkets from?

it should all come out together from the car, then the stacker will come off the back of the fascia and from there you should be able to open it up. mines never been stuck so once you take the lid off, youre on your own lol

and yes mine is a 6 stacker from my RX which is the same as an ARX.

Thanks Zei, how much do you want for your if I can't fix it?

    • Ahhh, I need the whole head unit. I definitely needed to roll back through and review your setup, ha ha! Neat setup they have going on. I just need a full double din head unit. But I want good and responsive. I might have to review what the likes of pioneer have out these days.
    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is may e 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Dose anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
    • My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.
    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
