I challenge you to find either my car rego, phone number, address or anything else that would indicate who owns my car (i.e. who i am) or where it is located  . I have always been very careful about what pictures are posted and anything that indicates who D_Stirls actually is, the only thing that has been posted is that my name is Dale.

EDIT!! actually at the moment there are 3 threads with my number in them but i'll deal with them shortly.

Also there is no connection between FB account and my D_Stirls persona, and unless i've accepted you you can't see anything on there anyway.

You'd be surprised Dale...just like Heslo was when he gave me a similar challenge recently.

I'd trace you back to your brother (and his business) which would give me a surname and anything else I wanted from there........anyone can be found if you have the right resources. >_<

^ and know where to look.

I managed to trace someone on ebay back to Brisbane and in another unrelated instance a person in Sydney after issues with money being taken from me... went as far as getting one persons credit ratings and financial history lol. Needless to say i got my money back :)

Point of story, no one is safe on the interwebs.

Yeah well just don't want to make it easy for the popo/regency. Who's to say that me and my brother have the same surname, quite common for half siblings to have different surnames. With your job i wouldn't challenge you as you have the connections and the know how.

As a side not;

NO-GRIP the mirage that was fitted with an 'EVO' engine had it's rego revoked via the mail and was requested to be produced to regency for an inspection when it was put on Car Sales.

Also Heath (the bloke with the VG30DETT in the S13) had his rego revoked when he posted his build thread online.

Very good point.......something I've never done either

One of the ways.

My point is not how well you can hide yourself...but why risk it ?

Magnas make for good daily's... too bad they dont have civil engineers building them and a long history of managing things :whistling:

No one is safe on the interwebz... NO ONE

What about Chuck Norris?

What about Chuck Norris?

Chuck Norris is not on the internet... Chuck Norris is the internet.

And besides, no one messes with Chuck Norris, only Chuck Norris can mess with Chuck Norris.

Challenge revoked :whistling:

Just tightened up the security on my FB page, silly me had it viewable to friend of friends.

Funnly enough, only last night me and the mrs were googling our names, and my jaw dropped what came up. Some websites (1 was peeeepl.com or sumthing) pretty much summarise all the info on the web avaliable about you in one place. Freaked the shit out of me.

But yeh, i live by the "better be safe then sorry rule".

Haha yes, was a rather easy one :P the username was of great assistance too ;) lol. Even so, plenty more information available if you know where to look I guess, theres almost no point trying to hide your identity these days... it can all be traced back unfortunately :( esp. if a history of work is available, thats the easiest form of getting contact addresses and numbers, just gotta use a bit of creativity to get you there.

    • Bit of a pity we don't have good images of the back/front of the PCB ~ that said, I found a YT vid of a teardown to replace dicky clock switches, and got enough of a glimpse to realize this PCB is the front-end to a connected to what I'll call PCBA, and as such this is all digital on this PCB..ergo, battery voltage probably doesn't make an appearance here ; that is, I'd expect them to do something on PCBA wrt power conditioning for the adjustment/display/switch PCB.... ....given what's transpired..ie; some permutation of 12vdc on a 5vdc with or without correct polarity...would explain why the zener said "no" and exploded. The transistor Q5 (M33) is likely to be a digital switching transistor...that is, package has builtin bias resistors to ensure it saturates as soon as base threshold voltage is reached (minimal rise/fall time)....and wrt the question 'what else could've fried?' ....well, I know there's an MCU on this board (display, I/O at a guess), and you hope they isolated it from this scenario...I got my crayons out, it looks a bit like this...   ...not a lot to see, or rather, everything you'd like to see disappears down a via to the other side...base drive for the transistor comes from somewhere else, what this transistor is switching is somewhere else...but the zener circuit is exclusive to all this ~ it's providing a set voltage (current limited by the 1K3 resistor R19)...and disappears somewhere else down the via I marked V out ; if the errant voltage 'jumped' the diode in the millisecond before it exploded, whatever that V out via feeds may have seen a spike... ....I'll just imagine that Q5 was switched off at the time, thus no damage should've been done....but whatever that zener feeds has to be checked... HTH
    • I think Fitmit had some, have a look on there (theyre Australian as well)
    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily.
    • Actually, I'd say all three are the automatic option. Just the different trim levels. The manual would be RSFS, no?
