good commitment, results and thread :D and excellent work from Yavuz as usual.

For those wondering, a dead stock rb26 has the same CAS issue, although in my case we just lived with it (no choice in a production race car).

Anyone with datalogit can pull the same data from any RB I bet.

Not sure. I would have to ask him. I'm sure he would be able to pull up some sort of log for that. I do know we went from 1.7ish bar to 2.0 bar and it made an extra 12 kw. That was obviously on the RS/Rubbish setup.

Well done Paul on trying a different route to what everyone else usually takes. You (and Unigroup  ) have done very well to get the flex fuel and crank trigger working in sync to produce an awesome result. I must say I've been in (and driven) many GTR's but your car scared me a little being a passenger at Winton. I'm not a good passenger at best of times but the way this thing accelerated out of the corners was something else. It kinda of reminded me of Tangomatt's car, it's on early and the progressive and copious amounts of power just made this car feel bullshit fast.

As I said to you at the Nats, if only I had this sort of power (and delivery) in my car back in the day....

Look forward to jumping in for another ride at next year's Nats....

Joe yeah spotted that one, maaaaay need a wash haha :D

That turbo is fkn massive. Should reel off a damn good figure and now that trigger means you can use silly RPM if needed!

dont worry mate she'll scrub up all right  , hoping for 400rwkw but may have to wind a bit of boost into it to get there

any of those cars in the shop yours stevo?

Be interesting to know how much more this balancer will allow the engine to rev safely? Yavuz didnt happen to mention anything about it Paul?

very interesting to know that it makes the car idle a better

I am not sure if it was the trigger or the ECU to allow it to idle solid. Although I do remember when we first put the ECU in and Yavuz whacked in a few numbers, the first thing I did notice was the idle being so much more steady. At that time the car was still running off the factory CAS.

No neither of our cars were out there today. You MAY see mine if you're out there next week.

400kw is a lot - that number is thrown around a lot on here but thats a fkn fast car!

Nah mine isnt there. I'd like to know who owns that white 32, thats looking pretty nice and a really neat interior effort.

When I asked Yavuz ages ago he said something along the lines of more than ever needed from an RB haha but it's worth asking the question again I guess

I noticed my idle went from great (Autronic) to average/lumpy (PowerFC DJetro). Same happened on Pauls one, he had PFC (AFM's) with such a lumpy idle and now it's much better (Link G4). We both have Tomei 270 Procams, so there's no way to shut them up completely, mine is a bit more subtle than his which would be capacity related (cant be anything else, theyre so close to each other except for the capacity)

Paul - Would love to have a drive! Although I may not give you back the keys...

Steve - I have been exposed!!!!

Just wait till his is done completely, next Nats you can try his then mine - then go home and buy another R ;)

Well I'll be back from WA next Wednesday so I'll be popping in to see how the progress on the car is goin so I may see yours in there if it's there towards the end of the week...

I tell u what though that blue 32 is one sweet custom job, yavuz was saying that it was also gettin one of these balancer kits as well...

Yea 400kw is alot of power lol I can't really imagine what its goin to feel like... Quickest I've had is 290

I don't think I'd mind that rough idle though makes it sound tough I reckon..

I've just got the tomei type b poncams (260 degree from memory) with 800cc so I don't think mine will be that lumpy

I saw those 800's on there today. The way Yavuz tunes, i would bet money on them not being big enough. Time will tell!

That blue one already has the trigger kit on it, although it only has 12 teeth and not 34.

Joe you'll see now the kit is finished, heaps of GTR's will be getting them there. I know of one Melbourne workshop getting to play with one soon too - so it's not just Sydney siders who are lucky with this bit of gear.

From 290 to 400? Yeah, hold-the-fu(k-on, thats a big jump :D

    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
    • Is it alright to top up with just another green coolant?
