this post is to those who know their stuff about R33 Skyline GTS-Ts.

i have posted this thread on fastfours forum and come up with some-what useless replies.

i am looking to buy one...in manual form of course! but i dont know what the differences are in the many variations this car comes in.

i am looking to buy a 94 or 95 model.

does anybody know if there are any differences between them?

and also...what are the differences that lie in the model names of HR33, ECR33, EC33 etc...

so which one would be the best to buy?

the reason i post this thread is because there is only a major visual difference between the 93' as compared to the 94' and 95'.

by this i mean...93' has non-clear headlights, different front-bar, etc.

whereas the 94' onwards has clear headlights, meatier front-bar etc

and then theres the 96' which has the grill, front bar, headlight changes etc.

but with the 94' and 95', there does not seem to be a difference? is that right?

thanks for any helpers

series 1 vs 2 R33

specs

more specs

93-94 is a series one

95 is a series 1.5 (blending of 1 and 2, bit tongue in cheek really a series 1)

96-98 is a series 2

I dont think this is a hard and fast rule though. IE some 94's seem to be like series 1.5's, some 95's seem to be series 2's.

Someone else will have to do the ECR, HCR thing cos I'm not sure.

Thanks for dropping by this forum. I told you they were dickheads that were replying on the FF&R forum. :)

Glad you made it. There's some good info around as well as our own share of dickheads. Have fun.

Adrian

thanks everyone for replying...

oh cheers 2rismo for giving me link here..

ppl here definitely know more

cheers zymotic for the series info.

it seems like there are a lot of skylines out there that mix-n-match the parts from different series GTSt's.

but regarding that "difference between series 1 and series 2" link u gave me..that was sorta useless...96' onwards GTSts are way out of my price range

i am more needing to know differences between series 1 and 1.5 i guess.

are the differences only visual ones that are obvious to me already?

Use teh search :)

series 1.5

Differences I have noticed, mine is a series 1.5 apparently.

Rear spoiler is series 2 not 1.

Interior is series 1 (which is great cos i dont like the el cheapo mexican

series 2 interior - lol watch me get :flamed: by the series 2 owners for that.

etc.

My turn :)

E(1)-E(2)C(3)4R33

1. Exhaust emission standards identification

E: 53 year regulation conformity

2. Model and engine type

H: RB20det type

B: RB26dett type

E: RB25det type

3. Controlling device

Non sign: Front 2 wheel steering

C: 4 wheel steering

4. Drive system

Non sign: Rear wheel drive

N: 4 wheel drive

Its just a way that Nissan names the Engine/Steering/Driving System

The way the R33 GTR letters mean this.

E - Exhaust emission standards identification, 53 year regulation conformity

-

B - RB26DETT

C - 4 Wheel Steer

N - 4WD

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
    • Also wanted to say, my new spark plugs are blackened looks like it's very rich. I have splitfire coilpacks but stock coilpack loom and ignitor. I tried directly grounding the ignitor ground to body as well.
