hi guys, planning my first run down the strip this wednesday at WSID.

my question is about how much fuel to run with. there's a fair bit of difference between a full tank and half a tank of fuel as far as weight goes (perhaps 20kg?). im thinking that having less fuel will help my TS, but then again on the street a full tank of fuel helps get off the line. I hear the strip is much sticker, but how much? If i launch at 3grand on the street, how much more can i add at the strip? -so far all ive done is take the 2x12in subs out, which together weigh about 25kg inc boxes.

note im running on 19in street tyres.

Half a tank will be fine. You don't want too little or it could get bad, quick...

Remember, if you intend to run on the 19's, let some pressure out of them before you run.. Try about 20psi LESS than what you usually run.

So a search for a beginners guide to drag racing on this forum and see how ya go. Better get there early this Wed as there's only gonna be about 80 cars aloud to run due to the burnout comp.

yes tits i dont plan on running with a full bowel. That will save a couple of kilos :(

ive asked about tyre pressure for 19's in another thread but i cant find it, and cant remember what the conclusion was, but can anyone tell me from "first hand" experience if dropping pressures in very low profile 19inch tyres will actually make a difference? I think that even if you drop pressure, there is still hardly any sidewall to flex to get benefit from? not that it could hurt so im likely going to drop them anyway.

Adrian, ive never been to one of these burnout comp/street meets, how early would i have to rock up? gates open at 3 i think, i was gonna try to get there by 1? and is it worth going to race while they are having a burnout comp on the same day?

I dont think I'd worry too much about the amount of fuel you've got (performance wise). I usually need 2 passengers in my car before I notice a significant drop in performance. Last time I went to the track I used 1/4 tank to drive 4 miles!! Make sure you have enough :uh-huh:

Altho I've only ever run on 16" tyres, letting then down is certainly the way to go.

Launching is up to you and how much power you can feed to the tyres without them spinning. There is no "rule" as to what rpm you should launch at, just remember that high revs = good revs. Your mission is to find the point between 2500-6500 where the wheels dont spin, then feed it more.

To begin with I was removing everything lose except me and the seats... sub, glovebox stuff, center console stuff, jack, spare tyre etc and I was running on about 10-20L of fuel.

Now I leave it all in and use 20-30L of fuel so probably about 25-35kg difference (half a passenger).

The difference I have noticed is no axle tramp with the extra weight in the back (tyres and tyre pressure have stayed the same).

Next time im out on the track I hope to have:

* Semi-slicks

* A clutch that releases and engages gears :D

* Brakes that work :Oops:

If all goes well I might start removing the tyre/jack/sub.

    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny  
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again 
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
