so whats the deal with these cars of the future program?? how much is going to be controlled?

Nissan joining is good news for v8 supercars! i feel last few years has been a little boring. .

AFAIK, basic chassis ie; brakes, suspension and steering system, fuel system, trans, rear end, and obvious the frame itself is control. Engine is more or less up to the manufacturer, though there are obviously limitations.

Been a while since I bothered looking it up though.

Really this means nothing as far as the racing is concerned.. The cars are all the same underneath. Even the bodies, although they look different, have basically the same aero so even they make no difference. It's just somewhere to put the badge. Having said that this is a good thing if it means they keep changing the regs so that the dtm cars can race here.

And being able to cheer for a Nissan will be sweet :D

Could this be the motor they use??

The VK50VE is a 5.0 L V8 engine with 390 hp @6500 rpm and 500 N·m (370 lb·ft) @4400 rpm and redline is at 6800 rpm. Bore x stroke (mm) are 95.5 x 87.7 and compression ratio is 10.9:1. It has Nissans VVEL technology.

Why maxima they have 4 door skyline

If they made it 2 door all the bogans would complain its a gtr even if it wasn't

I hope they use the tactic what wins on Sunday sells on Monday and bring a rwd v8 into the country

Yep thats the idea steve...like GT500 in Japan but dont v8 supercars run a five litre?... hence using VK50Ve as a base.

VQ45DE is what was in the superGT car I think?...could possibly stroke that?

A flat-plane crankshaft version of the VK45DE is used by Nismo for Super GT races with the Nissan GT-R instead of using the GT-R's VR38DETT twin-turbo V6 engine.[1] The VK45DE was previously used in Nissan's 350Z Super GT car, replacing the previous VQ30DETT used in that car in 2007. In race trim, the Super GT VK45DE produces 500 PS (490 hp) and 52 kg·m (380 ft·lbf) of torque.[2] The engine idles at around 3500 RPM and is restricted to the above specified power output. Without such restrictions, the engine is reputedly capable of producing nearly 800 PS (790 hp).[3] Nismo reasons that by using the engine, they eliminate turbo-lag, save weight and generally prefer the torque curve of the atmospheric V8.

@Martin - they do have on their rules page a 5.0 V8 controlled by Motec i would of thought half a litre smaller would of been ok but i guess if they got beat by a smaller engine all the teams would complain

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
