Tuning..

Tune 1:

115rwkw Stock.

125rwkw Fuel Pressure Bleed.

Tune 2:

152rwkw Exhaust, Boost Bleed to 12psi, Fuel Pressure Bleed & ~20degrees Timing.

Tune 3:

156rwkw Exhaust, Boost Bleed to 15psi (12psi Drop over 5500rpm), Fuel Pressure Bleed & ~25degrees Timing.

Really it had a bit to much Timing esp. If you got a slightly bad batch of fuel or a Hot Day.

Tune 4:

164rwkw Exhaust, Blitz SBC-iD @ 15psi, Fuel Pressure Bleed & ~17degrees Timing. Set it up a little safer this time.

Tim @ RPM seems to think I could have made 170rwkw with a better flowing exhaust BUT Better Flowing Exhaust = LOUD..

I really am Tired of Loud Exhausts on my Cars :)

So I'll be happy to trade the 6rwkw for a quieter Exhaust.

Looking at the Exhaust it shouldn't be to restrictive as it is has a straight through exhaust but the Dump Pipe I think could be a little bit better.

We are going to drop the exhaust off one day and give it a dyno run just to see what she makes at the rears.

Well.. Thats it for the Std. Turbo..

Now for the New Turbo.. I'll be looking at a HKS 2530 I think, Thats IF a BIG IF I can Find One..

The AF isn't to bad she leans out ever so slightly in the mid but it is still pretty safe.

Up top she still runs slightly rich but thats to be safe.

But only a ECU re-map will fix that.. Not until the Turbo But..

I'm going to slap a new set of plugs in these Old Coppers I image are getting pretty tired now.

BCPR6EIX (0.8mm) is the part No that I'm looking at..

Is that what you are running Clint?

EDIT: God I've spent some money....

It will be up around the 5k mark with the new turbo.

Oh well to get 200rwkw with the Old VS 5ltr I had I was going to have to spend 7k on a supercharger which then I would have Major problems with Insurance.

Im running NGK iridiums, i may change these when I do my other mods but at the moment they are doing good after being in for a year. I ran iridiums as the go-kart motors we race are succeptable to fouling plugs and running iridiums we dont foul them so i thought id run them in the skyline.

You should be able to find a 2530, just save some cash and keep looking, you will find one just hoprfully for the right price.

Clint..

I had a power run with the car running stock timing and stock fuel pressure it made 150rwkw with the bigger fuel pump @ 15psi at ~6500-7000rpm

That Part No. is supposed to be for the Iridiums..

I got the Part No off the forum :)

Hey Good work Joel the car will benefit so much with the new turbo once u find one what happened to the "40" scared of a bit of lag?

Will be good to see the Next Dyno run with the turbo on altho i assume u will be backing that timing right off +20 is a heck of alot of advance

cheers

Nope havn't run a 1/4 time yet. :)

When I launch at 4200rpm and slip the clutch to launch really hard with not much wheel spin some times in second the clutch starts slipping..

These Chepo' Simex 225 50's seem to really hook up, the wet is a different story but :D.

So a clutch maybe in order with a new turbo.. Even though this is a new clutch..

Thanx Jeff... I'm looking at a little cheaper than that :D

Macka.. I am a little scared of the 40's Lag.. + I might start having troubles with the drive line and the stock wheels that I'm running.

Uni next year so i don't want to be forking out $200+ for a tyre :)

Simex's at the moment are $139 each.

I really want to do something with the stock Air box.. Maybe some how adapt a different airbox that looks stock but doesn't have the bell mouth. I know a VS 5ltr Air box flows really well but it is kinda the wrong shape..

I should replace my stock air filter soon also.

hrmm..

wait amin..........stock airbox?

as per your signature?

Cmon joel rip it all out.......u need the bellmouth for the air to circulate.

1 bit of ally and your hot air intake is back to a cold air intake mate :-)

Did u read the fight over hks 2530s and 40s on SDU?

quite interesting although they were talking about twins for gtrs still quite relavent

Apparently th HKS GT2530's make around 220rwkw with a tuned ecu on a RB20DET using around 1.1bar on 98 RON Fuel.

Then Adj. Cam Gears should allow for a little more improvement. ~230rwkw:) Full boost around 3700rpm.. Approx

THE HKS 2530 is supposed to be the perfect balance between not to much lag on the rb20det..

Quoting Tilbrooks here. :)

Anyway the GT2540 i'm not to sure about. You maybe looking at say full boost by around 4200rpm or maybe a little more but the top end potential would be awesome with a set of adj cam gears.

250rwkw :D

I'm not really sure i'm kind of guestimating. :D

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
