Hey all. I've got one of these fitted to my car. It's been fine. Just the other say I've noticed it's reading seems about lower. It's idling on about 11.0 when it used to idle at about 12 to 13. Cold start reads 10.0. It seems off. Is this normal? would you suspect the wideband or something actually affecting afr's? It's about 3 months old mounted in the stock o2 sensor location.

Ill need to get it on a dyno. Just found my car idling with injector duty at 1.0% dropping to .9% then back up to 1.0%. Its odd because it always used to sit at .8% to .9%. Something is throwing out the tune. I have no idea how to clean the AFM so until I can rule out everything else, I'm going to leave the AFM alone for now. Tomorrow Ill pressurize the intake and listen for leaks. If I find none, ill erase the tune, self learn then reflash my tune. If no change, ill set the car on fire. If no change ill clean the AFM.

What would I clean the AFM with? I am thinking after driving back from work just now that it might be something else as the car was flopping a little when I clutched in to about 500rpm. Since I last tested the intake, there were no leaks. I am running a custom metal intake with stock BOV plumbed back and facing away from the AFM(pointing down the 90degree bend towards the turbo.

There was nothing I done which caused the sudden change. The last thing I did was actually heat wrap the dump but that was a while ago and the problem was only noticed a couple of days ago(I keep my eye on the afr's every now and then and it just seemed out of the ordinary).

I made a post about this in the Wideband thread in the FI section; I think I have the same or similar problem. My UEGO reads around 10-11 on idle and 12's/13's while cruising, sometimes lower. I'm 99% sure it's not the tune though, as the car drives exactly the same as always and there is no way I'd still be getting 550kms to a tank if my cruise AFR's were 12's. So I think it is either the sensor that has failed, OR there is a bad connection somewhere.

I haven't got around to pulling out the sensor or checking connections yet, so I'll let you know what I find when I do.

I'll get it out tomorrow make sure everything is nice and tight. Pretty unfortunate if it is the sensor. Only a couple months old ffs. I wish I bought the innovate unit which can be calibrated when it reads off.

I'll try everything to see if slowly something makes a difference. It reads 10.0 on cold start, that is the lowest reading the unit can display. If that was the case I should be fouling plugs in the 9.x region...

After alot of reading about installation locations, I decided to fit it in the standard location where the thing normally goes. I don't think this should cause the unit to fail after 2000km of use... People have had theirs on their cars in that location for years Ive read with still consistent readings. Car doesn't get a hard time. I'm never constantly giving it stick. Maybe to overtake or just a little squirt here and there but nothing out of the ordinary. You can tell I drive like a bitch when after 1.5 years and about 30000km of driving, my kuhmo tires were on 70% lol and they came on the car.

Maybe you should go give it a thrash and see if that helps. There might be a carbon buildup on the sensor or something. Alternatively pull it out and have a look at it. See what reading you get when its in freash air

Mine has been fine since I put it in about 6 months ago. Reads exactly how the wideband did on my dyno run and the wideband used when it was first tuned.

But mine is in the suggested install location right about where the gearbox crossmember is

Where did you earth the gauge to? I dont think that will be the problem but check the earth is O.K anyway

Fresh air I think it will fire all the way to lean, it does it when the ignition is on. Is there anything I can spray on it to clean it or is that not an option? Ill try take it for a little push later get some heat on it to try clear and burn off some of the carbon. Can't remember where I grounded it but Ill double check it.

Is there enough room for it to face the right way when you mount it under the car? Did you point it straight down or from the side.

no you dont.... you'd be on your 3rd unit by now

What a load of crap, I have been running my innovative for over two years on the same sensor and it still reads perfectly, they obviously fixed any issues with them a long time ago. I even bought one cheap, ($50) from the for sale section and got it working again, then modified it with a USB input.

Its been a good unit, if a little too fast in reacting according to my tuner. He would prefer to have the output smoother while tuning but I can only set it up for 1/3 second refresh max in the software.

mine points slightly up and in (just about hits the gearbox crossmember) but its about where the instructions say to put it

Contact cleaner would probably be alright if you unplugged the sensor, cleaned it and let it sit for a few mins before putting it back in. Probably just better to take it for a thrash but, I dont think contact cleaner would worry it but just in case

yer some of them are fine, but theres plenty of people (myself included) with several dead innovate units, through no fault of the end user a lot of them seam to have internal circuit failures, bad solder joints etc.

in open air it should rear around 20-21:1

Yeh the UEGO maxes at 18.5.

It will go to that in open air though. To test it, spray some brake cleaner on a cloth and cover cover the sensor with the cloth. It should go full rich to 10 and stay there. If it goes back to lean then it's stuffed.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
