You haven't stated if you want the single stage to be the high or low boost setting...

If you feed the standard boost solenoid a constant 12V, it will constantly run high boost...

If you remove the standard boost solenoid and its associated plumbing, it will constantly run low boost...

Hmm... I think a better way of describing it would be to say, a constant 12V whilst the ignition is on...

The solenoid has 2 wires and is located near the factory airbox... I can't exactly remember because mine is long gone but it will work in one of two ways...

1. One wire connected to ground at all times and the other wire supplied with 12V when the ECU tells it to... (> 5000rpm)

2. One wire constantly supplied with 12V and the other wire grounded when the ECU tells it to...

In the case of 1, you will need to find a 12V ignition source and feed it to the appropriate wire on the solenoid... I can't reccomend any particular source, but something from the fuse box should do...

In the case of 2, the simplest way would be to constantly ground the appropriate wire by attaching it to the car body...

Either way, the idea is to get an ignition switched 12V source to one of the wires, and a constant ground to the other...

if you have an apexi rsm you could set its rev output at like 2500 rpm and run the 12v wire (the rpm output wire) to your factory boost solenoid so when the rsm reads over 2500rpm it flicks on the output relay which is 12v, which should in theory open your solenid (if wiered properly). you would then have to run the other wire to constant ground.

does this sound correct? would this work? the output wire is 12v, 200ma

sorry, ive just re-read the manual. the rsm rev output signal is a switching ground.

so you would need to feed the solenoid 12v from somewhere and give it the rsm rev output wire and set its rev0 value to like 2500 or something small so its always open and gives you 7psi. or you could just hotwire (run 12v from somewhere else) to be always on even at 0rpm

yeah thats it's intended purpose. the factory boost solenoid has two wires, white and black.

do you know which one is which? im guessing one is to ecu to do the grounding @ 5000+ and the other is to 12v constant

Nope still can't remember...

I would assume that black is ground and white is hot...

Instead of ***ing around with earths and 12v wires, and since u want to run high boost which is around 8psi y dont u just get yourself a cheap bleed valve and and leave it still at 8psi. Then u can simply disconnect the hoses and plug from the stock boost solenoid and be done with it!

    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
    • Thank you so much for the help
    • Yes it is ATF. I quote @Duncan "it takes a good synthentic auto trans fluid like Castrol Transmax Z" It's not a diff. It's a transfer case. Totally different thing. Yes, fluid will come out the sender hole. No you do not really need to drain it. Just pull the old, quickly poke the new, clean up and top up. But realistically, you should probably take the opportunity to change it anyway.
