How's it going guys my rb25 blew last summer the timeing belt broke mashed the head up and broke a pistion so I finaly have a new head and the money to rebuild the engine. I'm from the US but the fourms here suck as far as rb knowledge goes. So I'm shooting for 500rwhp in a s13 this is a list of parts I plan on useing to get me there if you all could let me know what's needed and what's not or a better way to get the best bang for my buck let me know thanks in advanced. Arp head , main, and rod studs / acl main and rod bearings / isis intake manifold / either cp or wisco pistons / and either eagle or manly rods / z32 Maf with a q45 throttle body / stock exhaust manifold with tial 44mm external waste gate / holset Hx35 / as for head gasket I'm looking at the cosworth or the apexi and I'm running a apexi power fc/ for fuel injectors 1000cc not sure if that's over kill or not please let me know / and I'm running a z32 twin turbo fuel pump

You're going to be spending a fair bit of money so you'll want to get it right first time. I would suggest it worth your while to have a good read of this thread:

http://www.skylinesa...s-engine-build/

My only quick suggestion is that for 375rwkw you will want something better than the stock exhaust manifold e.g. a 6 boost or a Sinco customs one:

http://www.sincocust...20Fabrication/2

http://www.6boost.com/

Also have a read of the thread at the top of this page: dyno results for RB25 upgrades

http://www.skylinesa...l-dyno-results/

Guys in NZ are getting good results with Holset turbos but I don't know the capabilities of the one you are proposing to use - what is its mamimum output? And is the fuel pump brand new? I would want a new pump such as a Denso at least.I would prefer a more modern ecu such as a Link but if you already have the PFC it will be fine.

Recommend reading the dyno thread and seeing what similar people have used to get their results. Remember your 500hp is generally less than ours, also not sure if you guys measure at wheels or translate to at the flywheel, but take that into account.

To (kiwi) the max output of the holset is 60lb/ per min the trucks they use them on run 32psi all day so I figured it would work for what I'm wanting and I do plan on going with a 6boost I'm waiting for a group buy to come up or one for sale on our fourms here in the us.

To (rolls) most of us dyno our cars at the wheels but I do know our HP rating seems to be higher than most other places I just figured we tac on the extra HP for the amercian ego trip lol.

A truck engine isn't a skyline engine. Totally different rev range, flow rate, pressure ratio blah blah.

Read the dyno thread, see what worked for other people and duplicate it. Garret gt3076 is good for 300kw ish which imo for a 2.5L would be the max you'd want before the lag starts to get serious. You can do that on a stock motor, or a built motor with cast pistons if it is tuned correctly.

If you want to build a motor just buy a full rb30 from rips, do it once do it properly, 3L and it will probably cost almost what you'd pay to rebuild yours a few times after the first time it grenades because the builder wasn't experienced.

Ok (rolls) I under stand that but please look into the holset for the price of it you can't beat it I've researched it many times that's why I went with it!!!!! I'm sure I will change the turbo when I can afford one but then again I don't want my car to be a dyno queen

What research did you actually do?

The holset is possibly the laggiest turbo for the power you could use...

There are NO decent results around anywhere that I've seen. I remember doing some digging mid last year as someone else from the US was wanting to use one, all the results were just ridiculously laggy and they were on 3ltrs (2JZ).

Seriously? I've seen and know people who have got awesome results with HX35s... from WAY back, if I could talk to the guy I was in 2006 I would tell myself that my initial preference of going an HX35 on an aftermarket manifold instead of the the internal gated stock mount GT3076R for slightly cheaper would have probably been the better way to go.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
