.........and here they are in my spare bedroom

Total cost $1455....................sounds so funny reading old HPI mags that list these PSS9's for only $5,400 as a great suspension upgrade for our cars.

Looking nice! Looking forward to hearing your feedback.

Any luck getting tops?

Yes - I got a set of stock suspension of an SAU member several weeks ago....now I just need to get it all installed.

Will keep you informed on how they feel.

Initial impressions - wow.

Really nice ride - tried it on setting 9 - softest. Very smooth over bumps, when accelerating rear does not squat nowhere near as much, but then again I had a 15yr old stock suspension on my car so not surprised it was squatting.

I have read a few reviews of PSS9's and now I understand what they mean when other users say how bumps and potholes feel "muted" - suspension just absorbed everything really nicely and car remained composed. Cornering also felt much more stable - before my rear end used to wallow and slide a bit when accelerating, and now even in these wet conditions it just felt smooth and planted. I can definitely say it did not feel like ultra hard racing suspension - maybe that's how it would feel on setting 1. Leave setting 1 for the track.

Money well spent is my verdict -:cheers:

It took 4-5 weeks I think, didn't really mind waiting anyway.

Tried the suspension again today with settings at 7 on the front and it was noticeably rougher - put it all back to 9 and its really nice.

How does it ride in normal day to day conditions? i.e. on rough roads driving around the city and suburbs? is it better than stock comfort wise?

My car is a v-spec, and it always felt pretty harsh, not sure if that's how they all feel - I would say this PSS9 setup feels better on setting 9 - softest - just smoother - still hard, but I think its an improvement over stock - as much as I can tell after 150kms of suburban Melbourne driving. Felt better over the catseyes and train-tram lines too.

I did hit a pothole when I had it set at 7 on the front and it was harsh - and then I changed it to 9, drove over similar sized bumps and it felt much better - I know, its not a real test but its a bit of an indication of ride quality.

Harshness is mainly a function of low speed compression damping. The stiffer this is the harsher the ride.

Beyond a surprisingly low point the stiffer this is the less grip the car offers.

I ordered a set yesterday from this site: FSMIG which seems to be the same company as TVH Autoteile.

The price on FSMIG was €1003, less 19% VAT = €843

On the TVH site, the price is €973 less 19$ VAT €818, but to pay with PayPal its an extra 2.5%, which makes it about the same (€5 difference).

Shipping was €99.

The FSMIG site is way easier to use as it is in english.

They say the coilovers will be shipped on Monday or Tuesday next week!

Can't wait! Now to by some R33/R34 top mounts.

  • 3 weeks later...

Mine are in the mail....The shipment was initiated on the 11th of May, and latest status on 16th was "The shipment will be transported to the destination country and, from there, handed over to the delivery organization."

I'm hoping that means they will arrive any day now! Unless they're coming by tug boat.

Can you adjust the damping without taking the wheels off?

No they do not make a GTS-T option.

All you have to do is take my approach and build some spacers for the GTR fronts to fit into a GTS-T because they are different lengths and install a GTR rear cradle to take the yoke style rear shocks.

Simple but expensive - then you have to also factor in having then revalved to suite RWD instead of AWD.

Yes you can - front you adjust on the top, and rears you adjust from under the car - no need to take the wheels off but it helps if the exhaust is cool when adjusting left hand side.

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
