Hi,

I feel very stupid as heading states I hooked up fuel lines wrong way round. Just put my rb26 in my car and connected them up not thinking just so fuel didnt drip everywhere and to get them out of the way.

I hooked up wiring and fuel pump and starter, I just wanted to turn it over after rebuild, turned key to accessory and fuel pump started. meanwhile i could hear a strange pressure building noise and quickly switched it off.

very soon after i realised that fuel pressure had built and obviously couldnt get past the fuel reg and fuel passed through the injectors into the cylinders.

Q 1. are my injectors going to be okay after that sort of abuse.?

Q 2. is my fuel reg going to be okay?

Q 3. will this effect run in and the hone job on the bores or the rings themselves? (Fuel was pushed out of cylindars within half an hour.)

Q 4. Will I not know any of the above until I test each thing.

Thanks

Taylor.

I don't understand, I hooked mine up the wrong way as well once and fuel just didn't get past the reg, so how has it got into your cylinders ?

fuel shouldn't get past the reg the wrong way and pump should turn off once pressurized

I assume it pressurised the injectors so much they leaked out the tip. fuel got into the cylinders through the injector tip. fuel pump didnt switch off once pressurised it just kept pumping and filled the cylinders in seconds

on an rb26 the rails pressure reg is on the front of the rail itself before the injectors. the lines were reversed so the fuel went to all of the injectors first and stopped at the reg at the end and i assume couldnt get past the reg

Reg is definitely on return side cause it needs to regulate pressure in the rail..

so sounds like it is hooked up the right way..

So either your pump isn't switching itself off once pressurized, have your rewired it lately?

Or your injectors are stuck open for some reason..

maybe your injectors are getting voltage I dont know why this would happen

I had 90psi fuel pressure on mine and it wasn't enough to push injectors open, then again my pump would switch off..

Fuel can't get past the reg and even if it does you won't have much pressure in the rail because there is nothing to stop it running back to the tank.

The reg restricts flow back to the thank to increase pressure in the rail.

Your injectors, reg and engine will be fine.

If you're really scared and want to be sure pull the spark plugs out and crank the engine over with the cam angle sensor disconnected to clear out any fuel in the bores.

Id say more then getting the line's the wrong way you have leaking injector seals? Or the reg jammed shut over pressurising the rail causing fuel to leak past the injectors?

Everything would now have been washed of any oil on its surface. Id drain everything, leak everything open for a few days to let any fuel evaporate out then refill with oil, then crank it by hand for a while?

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
