Just a little input, I had -5s on my rb26 on pump and full boost was at 5100 rpms. For track it was USELESS, for straight roads though it was marvelous!

To make the -5s work, you really need to build the engine such as Piggaz which I've been in before but you have to build it correctly. I've also been in RS's with a standard 26 and you will notice the difference but again, either build the engine to suit the turbos, or pick the turbo to your engine.

Again, I will just repeat what the others have already stated, E85 vs pump fuel is VERY different.

Also, -9s may have good response but they run out of puff if you want start to aim for more power where as the -5s will be able to go a little further.

I would say you have a few decisions to make before you make your choices (E85 or pump, 26 or stroker +, purpose of car, power vs response, etc).

was there much get up and go before 5k? or you really had to wait for it? Then again, Once your at 5k, anther 2.5k and its pretty much next gear...Then youve got to build up to that again....

As good as the -5s sounds with the added power, And added room for more things in the future. Its really not going to be used to there full potential.

Going to buy the -9s!! f**k it. worst comes to worst i can sell and upgrade.

Well I'm in a 34 so I still have 4k left to go before next gear haha but I never dropped out of boost. Once it was on, it was ON!!! On my setup, it started to build around 3800rpms so anything under that was a little boring. My old R33 GTR had -7s and I thought that was a really good setup, managed 320kws and the response was excellent. Perfect for track conditions but being such small turbos, they ran out of puff top end. I believe GTRSean has -9s which I've also been in and those were great turbos too. I do believe Levinboy has them too and his produced pretty good results.

2.6 = SS's/-9's. Without a big dollar head and setup.

2.8 and bigger = -5's.

It's that simple, unless you're a nuckle dragger 'drag racer' that likes 'peaky power' which feels quicker.... Then they get smashed around twisties by a car that has 100 KW less peak figure.

Average power will belt peaky power every time AND be easier to drive.

hmm didnet know the 34gtr had a Bigger RPM limit? then the other rb26's

I dont get how a turbo such as the -9 can really run out of puff though, Dropping a little boost toward the top end i undderstand. But from feeling the way levinboy's pulled it was not running out at all. And once it drops out of the sweet spot, You would just go next gear. Seems pointless sitting above 8k if its not needed. But as you said, On the bigger blowers it is

yer, Although my motor is built. Its nothing to write home about. Sure it will bring some reliability and piece of mind.( fingers crossed) its not something i really want to be sitting at redline to get a bit of power.

-9s it is.

i should almost stay off here till i pay for them so my mind is not swayed once again :)

Even a Car with a big midrange and 30-40kws less peak will be quicker at the drag strip, unless you have a dog box/auto with short close gearing to keep it in the power

I said the -7s... not -9s :D

You will not be disappointed with the -9s until the power bug hits and you want more haha

That's what I said man.

Area under the curve. Peak numbers are pub talk!

Im expressing the fact,

Once you start on the road for power, you will always want more power. You get used to the power curve, and seeing as we all are adrenaline junkies, I want MOAR!!! haha.

But no Im not bored, I love it.

Wait till you hit the track then you will want bigger brakes!! And more suspension components hahaha

    • Yeah I also looked at Plazmaman, but, it ended up alot  cheaper getting black ones through EFI when you also added in the delivery cost
    • Nice shot! They look super clean. The roof rack delete on the black one is interesting. Would like to see more pictures from different angles. It's subtle but could make quite a difference to how the car looks in profile.
