Hicas Diagnostic Fault Code

Hey fellow Stagea owners,

I have seemed to have encountered some problems with my Hicas sometime back, Only running the diagnostics last night i believe the fault codes which were interpreted by the flashing light were 1,4 and 5.

1-HICAS solenoid right hand

4-Power steering solenoid

5-Vehicle speed sensor

My question was where are all sensors/solenoids located, I believe the 5th fault code the vehicle speed sensor is located inside the dash cluster its self so that isn't a problem for me. I'm just stuck as to where the other 2 may be located. If anyone could please shed some light onto these problems i have encountered that would be very helpful.

check ur rear wheel speed sensors one might be playing up. i would be guessing the hicas solenoid would be on the rear craddle at the actual pump. power steering dont know about. research into it more.

So your assuming the actual Hicas solenoid would be located on the actual Hicas unit it's self?

Rear wheel speed sensor should be fine it was just the 3 fault codes which i encountered for some unknown reason but seems like whenever the right rear wheel goes over a small bump/ditch the back end seems very floaty and try's to correct steering for some reason.

thats wat i mean. could be ur RHR wheel sensor playing up. sending incorrect wheel speed, causing hicas to play up.

Hi Chris................old thread I know but I am curious as to whether these codes were cleared & if so what was the cure? I now have similar problem after dodgy wheel alignment.

The below is for R33 Skyline (1994 ~ 1999) & I guess they will do for C34 Stagea.

Codes are; 22 = Steering angle sensor not present.

23 = Steering angle sensor neutral or not present.

Did they remove the steering wheel to make it central rather than adjust the tie rods properly? Sounds like the sensor for the steering wheel is out.
