Hi guys picked up my 97 gtsts yesterday freshly imported :D

One of the issues i just noticed is that my Odomoter for the current trip (So the one on the bottom) is flying!

I drove it from Baulkham Hills to Blacktown which is Max ~15km i'd say.

I reset the odomoter at the start of the trip and when i arrived at blacktown it said 60~ kms.

Any suggestions / is this fixable?

Cheers

Colin

id say the odo milage had a nice little hair cut before it left Japan and they stuffed up putting it back together.

id either ignore it or buy a 2nd hand one to replace it (not worth fixing). Either way, id do a 100,000km service and full fluid drop asap.

And congrats on the new car

dont be to worried about someone taking kms off your odo, every non gtr is probably in the 200k kms :)

just do what everyone seems to do and buy a new odo, rack up 70,000 kms and when you want to sell it polish it. mint condish bro.

So on your way to Blacktown your 'odo' "was flying" up to 6000rpm?

jk

Glad it's sorted Colin.

And yes, you might as well "confess" right here!

Leave it to us as to whether or not you receive absolution for wasting 2 mins of our lives!

lol

Hey Terry,

I went to carbon car systems to get my alarm installed and must say best blokes there, friendly and honest. I wanted to get a more expensive Viper system but they told me it wasn't worth it / not suitable for me etc and sold me a mongoose system fitted instead. Told him i found his business on SAU and he was like yes Mr terry!

Going back this week to get my head unit installed =D

Awesome guys would recommend !

That's great Colin!

On one occasion when a quote was given to supply & instal, they needed an extra part that they'd run out of. They went into Blacktown to procure the part but insisted on not charging me any extra. They even apologised for taking up extra time.

Good old fashion service at Carbon Car Systems & Daniel Gardener.

Chris Rogers in Brisbane has the same service approach.

Got my head unit installed today on short notice (had about 4 cars there but squeezed me in) Found out my two front speakers where dead... Didn't charge me an arm and a leg to get things installed and replaced.

Very happy with their service still and can't wait till they start doing their tinting so i can go back and get some more work done :D

    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
