Sounds like a nice list of parts

What turbo/s you going to run?

Come along on the 26th anyway doesn't matter what car we will only be doing the speed limit anyway

for the moment its going to stay stock turbos and ECU, dont have the cash to do the turbos and an ECU, i will be putting a set of HKS turbos in once i get some money and doing an ECU.

i dont have a car at all till i get the GTR back, she is daily driven :D if all goes weill i can pick her up on the 25th and go on the 26th tho, block is appart and being done as we speak, i totaly destroyed the 3rd and 5th bearing :whistling:

... block is appart and being done as we speak, i totaly destroyed the 3rd and 5th bearing :whistling:

Now me and the mad sceitist have to pull apart the block...sorry couldn't help it.

Its kind of a like a expensive safety feature with these cars...you'll get oil starvation and destroy the engine long before you loose grip...i still would have liked to see a larger sump on this build list for added protetion, but just make sure you overfill it by a 1L.

Also, make sure your builder cleans and checks everything throughly...you don't want to be pulling it apart again in 3 months cause of the bearing shavings floatin around in your block have destroyed the rings or something else....

if all goes weill i can pick her up on the 25th and go on the 26th tho,

Damn, thats pretty quick... cruise on 26th if you can make it...i don't think mine will tuned by then, but i might see if i can jump in with someone.

Sounds like a good plan

Motor should be well and truly run in after a cruise, just don't do to many freeway miles at first as the freeway and fresh bores are mortal enemies

LMFAO thats gold.

I dont have the cash for the sump and NItto pump could only do 1 or the other, im going to be using a stock oil pump with a set of reimax gears in her, the ballfes should deal with the oil starvation issue at hand with the restrictor in the head, its going to be my daily till i pay it off (1-2) yrs and after that ill do the sump and big oil pump and turn her into a monster.

From all the shops i have spoken to they all seem to think i will be fine with the OEM pump and gears as long as im not reving out to 10k rpm or anything crazy like that constantly. Ill be doing the 1L overfill also, btw what oil do you guys find to be the best for the GTR?

Hey guys, for those of you that dont know.... My clutch is now toast :P Didnt think it would last long at the power level considering it was way outside its happy zone!

Should have been double clutching not granny shifting :D

ANYWAY, that puts my car out of contention for the 26th as Jim Berry will be working his magic on my clutch around then.....

Ill still probably jump in with someone tho, CHOOKIE???? :woot:

yeah fair enough - should be all good

redline is the best, but you can only buy that in drums. Royal Purple or Motul 300V fully synthetic are the other great alternatives. 10-40w should be good for a daily driver.

lol...i was sort of wondering how long your clutch would last. Don't get me wrong - it still sucks that you toasted it. JIM's fully monty clutch is magic - zero slip.

My clutch & new flywheel ahould be leaving JIM's today - its a little different as its its a dual carbon clutch - superlight and responsive, but you actually need to slip it to put enough heat into so it actually grabs whens cold. It was a bit of a prick to get up steep driveways etc when the car was cold - JIM's almost doulbled the clamping force, so hoperfully it will be much better.

Yeah it was going to have a limited life which we knew from the start, makes me wonder if it has been slipping during the tune etc? Will find out i guess!

Mine is a sort of custom setup too, he said it'll be better than the full monty :D he was saying he does a bit of work for Paul.... Didnt realise he was meaning yours lol

The clamping force on mine will double over the Excedy button which should be pretty impressive! He said the heavy flywheel was the way to go for me, why did you go light?

my car's penciled in at JEZ's for a tune next friday, and cold start saturday...so at this stage i will be making the cruise if all my parts arrive and theres no hipcups etc My biggest concern atm is my injectors (only 600cc)...expecting to crack 400awkw (more hoping lol, just to say i cracked 400awkw - expecting more around 380 on finaly tune, i'm not going to be disappointed either way) so i should be pretty much at the limit for these injectors on paper.

so if everything works out, someone can jump in with me.

Dont you need a run in tune first? And 600cc? Really? :/

400 is a nice number ;) I will head there once i clear some debt, but mine will be RWKW for the skids! haha

that will be an impressive clutch lol - I actually didn't know i had carbon clutch till we pulled the engine out - was a nice suprice and explained the slippage. The hole clutch package (minus fly) only weighs like 3kg - much lighter then a normal twin. I just told JIM to machine me a billet fly wheel to match the clutch..so i don't know what i ended up with TBH.

I got the as part of a package deal from the US last year when i was going to do a -9 setup - brand new nismo MAF's, new injectos, midori modified intake pipe and nismo front pipe for $1200US - was pretty happy...although i sold the front pipes, not using the twin turbo pipe, going for a map tune (no mafs) and the injectors are probarly to small.

Whats this place. Ello peeps

ahh outsider :domokun: :domokun: :domokun: :domokun:

keep me posted mate if your offloading some parts, im going for a -9 setup so could be interested in some etc..

Yeah after a long long long conversation yesterday i learnt HEAPS about clutches and flywheels etc...... Lighter not always better, well rarely better in a lot of cars lol!

Dont run 600's man, you will only regret it and have to change it at a later date, do it right the first time :)

LOL, outsiders are OK, them wasteland boys bring the lulz :D

jim likes to talk clutch lol

...i'll make a decsion tonght. might see if i can pick some Id1000/2000 in sydney tomorrow

yeah only playin around..don't get to play in the wasteland that much due to NSFW...i'm basically on my work connection all the time atm :verymad:

You'll probably kill the diff or driveshafts next LOL

I'll have a spare seat but might be a tight squeeze in the back of the car, though driving chooks does sound like a better plan

He does, awesome bloke to chat too!!

Yes big injectors! Doooo it!

Yeah I'm on at work or my phone, wasteland is awesome haha

Haha nah already did that with 250kw so it's all replaced :P

    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
    • No those pads are DBA too  but they have colors too. I look at the and imo the green "street" are the best.
    • I’m not sure what happened I told them about sonic tunes free OTS tune and the next the I know .. I was booted..   To funny
    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
